Beanie under helmet

I know that there have been threads about this before, but none answer all of my questions.

I have a POC Receptor BUG L
I have a Bern Macon L

I have a Bern Baker L

All of these helmets have pads that velcro into the helmet. The bern has a removable knit liner and when you remove it you are supposed to put pads in its place to make it fit properly. The POC Receptor has velcro pads in it as well to improve fit.

When you wear a thin beanie under your helmet, do you guys take these pads out? If you do, how do you keep the velcro from sticking to your beanie and goggles? I don't want to size up on the helmets because I like to wear them with just the velcro pads on warmer days or when skating/biking, etc.

What do you guys do?

oh yeah, without even taking the velcro pads out I can fit a thin balaclava under the helmet...but I can't find any cool beanies that fit as thin as my balaclava

i took out all the velcro, and i just use my beanie act as the padding

For my POC I took the extra set of pads, separated the black layer from the foam, and covered the velcro with that. Works wonders.

I have POC receptor BUG too, and i just took the pads out and the beanie sticks right to the velcro. It works great!

I depends on the helmet. Currently I have a huge giro helmet to I keep all padding but the top pad out.

In my opinion, better to keep the padding in if you can get a proper fit with the beanie under

i use the regular neff benie that u can buy anywhere and i have a RED helmet and i leave the pads in because their really thin

I don't take the padding out, because that is retarded. I size up the helmet, when its warm, flat brim underneath and it fits perfectly.

I dont know what my problem it. I have a smith holt and even with a thin beanie under it, it sits super high on my head and theres a gap between my goggles

Did you take out the thin black lining with the grey mesh? It makes the holt fit way better with beanies, and you dont lose any protection. For the gaper gap just tuck your beanie in to the tops of your goggles when you put them on.

i have the POC Receptor in Large. i kept all the padding on the sides of the helmet and took off the pad and vent cover from the top. i then peeled off the little velcro circles (they're only attached by a sticky adhesive) so that my beanie wouldn't stick to those. works perfect for me.

The pads themselves don't protect you, the molding, or whatever eva stuff does, the pads are just to fit your head, so if a beanie works instead you aren't sacrificing any protection.

my brain bucket comes with not even pad thin pads that I use with a balaclava.

Also, what's the lowest profile helmet? my brain bucket is bigger than expected, so next time I wanna get a super low profile one, preferably one my crowbars are just as wide as, or wider than
