that reminds me of a story someone told me years ago. a bunch of us were having a half arsed argument about whether thin or thick socks are better for skiing. this older dude said to wear whatever is comfortable and dont worry too much because a thick sock will be compressed anyway so it wont make any different to how the boot fits. crucially he said he skied for an entire week with a thin sock on one leg and a thick one on the other, swapping them over each day depending on a coin toss, to see which one was more comfortable. for him it was thick socks, so that's what he wears.
