So I have an HV-20 and I was about to go out and get some HD tapes for it, but someone told me that they are a waste of money and not worth it. So after a day of use and uploading the footage it kinda came out like poop, and something that my point and shoot camera with video mode could do. I have seen the quality of the HV-20 and it should be SHIT loads better then what is coming out. Am I doing something wrong or do HD tapes really make that big of a difference?
the tapes are not doing anything wrong, you are. you need to set your custom presets, etc. on your camera to get better looking results. Also, HD tapes are dying out, people now go with SD cards, P2, or any other tapeless media storage device. Hope that helped.
well I have been messing around with the settings, putting it to snow mode and shit like that. and it's still not coming out with great quality. Also if I were to look for some HD tapes where could I find them? Wal-mart is fresh out.
with a camera like yours the best thing to do is to make sure to have your white balance, exposure, and shutter speed correct, not just put it on "snow mode." im not familiar at all with the HV series cameras but i have seen very good footage that was taken with them. lurk online to find out about the things i mentioned above because it will take forever for me to explain them to you if you don't already know what they are. as for the HD tapes, your best bet will probably be the internet or a camera store nearby. wal mart kinda blows wene when it comes to camera gear.
