i always LOL at people who say this, you have no idea what you're talking about. some retard coined the "U" for miami in the media and it took off. it never was the original U and never will be.

The University of Utah (the real U) was founded in 1850, a full 75 years before the university of Miami was. The UofU has been called "The U" wwaaayyyyy longer than the University of Miami has.

riiiggghhhttt. so a university from Miami Florida is the only U, when people have been calling the University of Utah (UofU) "The U" for far longer. consider this, the real U, in Utah, was founded 75 years before the one in Miami and has been called The U for far longer.

University of Miami = The Cons. at least use the one nickname applied to that school that is original.

No, thats like saying every other school in the world can be called "the U" because the only U in at miami is "university". Which is why Utah is the U because our school name actually starts with a U, unlike every other school. Miami sucks.

oh and to put this whole debate over "The U" to rest, this has been on the mountain above the University of Utah since 1907, 18 years before the University of Miami was even founded:

anyways, cool article on TW, he's definitely getting big. glad to see he's taking education somewhat seriously as well. he wont be a paid skier his whole life (hell, who knows when getting paid to ride could end for pro skiers), at least do something now that will prepare you for the future.

Actually, plymouth state UNIVERSITY is the original U, look what I found on google:

"Plymouth State University, located in Plymouth, NH, is the oldest university in the Unite States. Founded in 1790, the school has since been referred to by locals as "The U.""

everyone in their home state refers to the university that is titled "the university of ________" as "The U" Im from washington, anytime someone says i go to "the U" they mean the University of Washington.....
