You're right, I apologize.

It's just perspective and unfortunately for the vast majority of people once it gets out of hand and they realize it, it's too late.

Moderation is key. As long as you can keep it under control you'll be fine, but smoking weed and HONESTLY keeping it in moderation is a hard thing.

Addiction is a sneaky fucker, and by addiction I mean the addicted to the habit of smoking weed.

Are you kidding? Inhaling burnt anything is much much worse for you than sitting around and posting on NS. Jesus, the real ignorance is honestly believing that smoking weed, or anything for that matter, has no negative affects on your body.

Anyway I fully endorse the message behind this thread. I'm tired of seeing my friends fail there classes and get in to trouble because, "my parents are just ignorant." or "my teacher just hates me cause I smoke weed." Sure, if you can keep your shit together that's fine, but the VAST majority of people are completely incapable of that, weather they be smokers or non smokers.

Think of it this way.

The time you are being high you could being doing something else. No it doesn't mean you are sitting on your coach doing nothing but think of everything else you could be doing. You could be doing HW, answering an e-mail, doing dishes. My point is the time you spent being high pushes everything else you need to do back a little further. The more you smoke the more it builds up.

See what I'm saying?

And don't give me that shit "Oh I can do everything on weed just as fine sober." The THC in weed is scientifically proven to alter your state of mind.

smoking isn't bad. just like playing video games isn't bad. it's idiots that push the limits and start doing it to the exclusion of everything in their lives like it's their number one priority that makes it bad. it's an enabler, but it doesn't mean people can't be smart about it. you can't say that every kid that burns is going to end up an unproductive clown that's pissing his life away, though that may be the case.

don't confuse the issue with facts.

Part of what this guy was saying though, was in the long run, and age.

If you've finished growing and are an adult, do it. It's not preventing growth anymore.
If you're still young like me, well, we are still growing, even if we don't think so.

The brain doesnt stop developing until our early 20s. Why alter and possibly destroy final development? This guy works at a convenience chain, and can't help but forget basic things daily. I don't want that shit. Especially blazing before bed, it alters your mind, and sleeping is when your growth is happening. It might seem like a good sleep, but after you've been doing it for awhile you'll notice it will be more of a restlessness.

None of us can really fathom the effects after 13 years, and i know it wont kill us. We might think we know about it, but we DONT, and that is the present ignorance.

Hahaha you are getting so offended. I am by no means trying to insult you but just explain my opinion.

Let me ask you a couple of questions.

#1 Have you ever ran out of time for ANYTHING in your life?

#2 Does weed cost money?

#3 Have you heard of the phrase "Time is money?"

You may be successful, congratz on your success,but still think of all the time you worked at a job making money that you spend on bud, think of all the time you have spent loading a bowl and smoking it.

Especially for long time smokers all this time accumulates over the course of your life, and you could have been using this time to accomplish what you just remembered of in #1.

Seems like you got life all figure out way to go champ.

No one is saying that weed makes you fail at life. Just that it can, with prolonged use, destroy productivity in some people. You can argue all you want what the independent and dependent variable are but I guarantee there is a observable trend between marijuana use as a teen and success in life.

And traveling the world has a lot more to do with your parents bank account then rolling a joint.

I smoke all the time, but I never smoked much in college. If I ever have to look for another job I will quit, its not important to me.

So all you pot head kids out there, really sit down and say to yourself "Is my pot usage a positive thing in my life." I can say for me it is. No one is judging you, I am asking you to judge yourselves so don't argue your points to me. Only you, deep down, can answer this question. If you think, well shit maybe I shouldn't be blowing 100 bucks a month on weed, or maybe I should have studied harder for that test, or maybe I should have worked out instead of playing red dead redemption for 15 hours, then maybe you should cut back or quit. Otherwise burn one down, cause if you don't like my fire, then don't come around, cause I gunna burn one down.

It's kind of shitty, I'm finally realizing this stuff, but I can see one of my best buddies spiraling downwards.

He tells me all he likes doing is getting high, he hates school, and just wants to get high instead of go to school. He hates his life and it seems like weed is the answer to everything for him.

I tried to get him to read this thread but he stopped a quarter way in because he said he doesn't want to get depressed or some shit, and he doesn't want to stop because he loves it too much, so why should he even bother reading it.

It's his life and his choices, it's just shitty to see him spiral downwards in life

this thread's retarded, read scientific reports if you want information on smoking pot. just cause weak minded retards smoke all the time and often blame their own fuckups on it doesnt mean it makes you dumber or less motivated, that's simply not true.

some people can't blaze and get their shit done, so they shouldn't smoke much, and you obviously shouldnt start smoking too young or let your life revolve around it or be hindered by it. beyond that, there's nothing much to say.

it's not a big deal but people make it one. if you guys think smoking after getting your shit done is any different than having a drink after work, you're missing an argument i think

1. you cannot get addicted to weed.
2. their is no other medical drug that has as much positive effects as weed does.
3. weed isn't as bad as they say it is. they preach that weed is terrible. when they are doing drug tests, they only find weed in your system. they dont find any other drug. all the hard drugs are completely out of your body within 3 or 4 days.
4. you need to smoke 15,000 joints in 20 mins to actually have a serious effect on you.
5. my friend blazes everyday, he gets straight A's and is in honors math, science, and english. thus proving weed doesnt fuck up your brain. that being said, most of the stoners you see are already really fucking dumb. weed didnt make them dumb.

ps, i do not smoke. ive only blazed twice.

i totally get what this man is saying and only after a year of casually smoking i feel like it has made me less motivated and also feel like i missed out on some good times. i feel like it would be easy to stop but too many of my friends smoke and if you dont smoke it feels like you get left out

I don't smoke every day. But like once a week, I just like the feeling of releasing and getting suoer high. So I dont do it every day because then it's less of an experience and it's sits like your just always high. Not as cool. But since i've been smoking for roughly 2 years I've become way more open minded and just a better person. But I really can tell it has affected me somewhat negatively, I forget things more often and straight up don't remember as well. But for me the pros outweigh the cons. Maybe because It's only like 2-3 times per week.

1. you can get addicted to any substance, drug or not, everything you feel triggers chemical changes in your brain. Skiing triggers the release pleasure-causing chemicals (dopamine, seratonin, etc.) that make you feel good. You can get addicted to these, and like most people on here, i am "addicted" to skiing. weed releases these chemicals too.

5. Aceing 8th grade isn't hard... and do you think he could do better without weed? Do you think weed helped him?

ganj is fun, but truth is it doesn't make you better at anything. Some may say its harmless, some may say it isn't, but is the risk really worth it? If its not making you a better person, why toke up? You are just taking precious time from your life and wasting it. life's a blessing, be thankful everyday and don't waste it.

but hittin the ganj and skiing is completely chill. Smoking and actually doing something productive is beneficial, imo.

It could have. It has been shown to have benefits as an alternative medication for ADHD. I know it helped me get through highschool. It made classes tolerable and in some cases interesting for me. I know  personal experience doesn't mean much in this sort of debate, but my average grades went up a letter after i started smoking and I noticed no negative effects. Taking time away from life... lol. Quick, tell me the second leading killer in America! That's right, cancer. Long-term marijuana smokers are proven to have lower rates of cancer than non-smokers. In effect, marijuana could serve to actually lengthen your life.

I know it doesn't kill you, and yes, it can be good for you, like the ways you've described. I guess its all in the way you use it, the amount, and knowing how it affects you.

I believe it has made me a better person. I think it's all about how you perceive it. I don't think of it as being a bad thing. Then again I smoke maybe once a week I can imagine it would be much different if I was an everyday kinda guy.

one of my uncles was my age (16) in the mid 60's he spent the majority of his teenage years getting blunted. now he has like no short termamory and also has trouble keeping a job he is financially well off but weed can really ruin the latter years of your life.
