the scott rep came in to the shop I work at, and I was fortunate enough to score some free team issue poles (the green ones). the problem is that they are too big, and the shop owner said the grip cannot be taken off because of something about the grip being heat cured onto the pole. does anyone know how I could possibly remove the grip? thanks. obviously, +k
ur shop owner must be dumb, its pretty easy to take grips off, the scott team issue ones r slightly harder than most (i did it with mine), at the shop i work at we have this little wooden thing we hang the rubber mallet on, u have to find something that hold the grip in place above ur head, and u need to pull down on the pole, so teh grip stays in place. Then take a pipe cutter and cut away. Take a heat gun to heat up the around the grip first, that helps loosen them up a bit, but dont get too close with the heat gun, u dont wanna melt the grip, also try some silicon spray, im sure ur shop has some
All this advice works for most poles, however i have scott tritons, and the grips wouldn't come off no matter how hard i tried.
I finally gave up on the hot water thing and cut the grip lengthwise down to the pole and removed it. After cutting the poles down I reattached the grips and glued the lengthwise cut grips back together.
