First season back after ACL..

On friday i am returning to the hill for the first time since march 7th. My questions include: 1) how long did it take you to return to full park strength like how long till you hit a rail/jump/actually doing tricks 2) what advice do you have once back on the hill (besides 'take it slow, see how you feel') and 3) anything else you find important

I skied for the first time since January 22 on October 18th. Didn't even notice anything was different. Had surgery March 4th. You'll be fine, but definitely wear a brace.

i had my surgery last febuary and went to the gym a lot in the summer. I haven't been on the hill yet and was also looking for some advice. thanks

yeah i got a nice lookin breg brace that i will wear everytime out this season. glad to hear you got back on hill with little difficulties. the psychological factor is really messin with me tho

Definitely wear a brace. If you push yourself, you can be back pretty soon. If you're a pussy? it takes a while.


Chances are you'll be stoked beyond belief to be skiing again.

I had my surgery in May and skied in october about 5 months after and it felt like nothing even happened. Now at six months i feel better and more confident about my knee that last year because the muscles are now stronger than last year in both legs. You'll be fine, but stay in your comfort zone for a while. By the way I use a Custom CTI Vapour

just got back from the hill and im more stoked than ever! it went great and i was even hitting rails which i honestly had no intention of doing. so stoked for the rest of the season hope all yalls go well too

Yea I was shredding bumps today without any issue, ate it a few times off rails and such also. It was all good. It's mostly a psychological factor, but don't think it's invincible, I have tweaked it was few times spinning out of rails and just take it easy if that happens.

my friend tore his acl 2 years ago and then again last year.. last weekend was his first time skiing again in 2 years and he was hittin all the rails and even throwing some switch ups and 270s out..

but deffinately wear a brace, don't wanna take any chances

Not acl, but I broke my knee cap a while ago snowboarding (had 3 knee surgeries and have 2 screws in my knee now). Last season was my first year back after taking about 4 years off, it felt soooo good to hit the mountain again. I've only had a chance to get out once so far this year, but it's the greatest feeling ever to get back out there after not snowboarding for so long.

My first day is gonna be soon, as soon as I finish these damn finals... And go back home to where my skis are. But when I went home for thanksgiving and clicked into my skis (cause who doesn't do that even where there is no snow) it seemed like landing backseat, or that sort of force that's put on your knee by doing that, hurt it. I've got this brace which I'll be wearing and have been hitting the gym every other day. The leg that I hurt is also my pushing foot, and I longboard to class, so the calf muscles are now bigger than on my other leg. Also gonna turn my DIN down to 5, I was riding a 6. I had mine done May 5th. So it will be almost seven months when I get back on snow.

I had a meniscus surgery this march after an acl/meniscus injury. My acl is almost torn but they decided not to do anything about it. Now after skiing a month with a knee support brace and not really crashing any big just a few small ones im starting to get pain in my knee again. Which sucks and keeps holding me back. Any1 else here been through the same ? Im thinking that I should concider a re-construction of my acl but im not sure cause that takes like 6 months of training to get back....

had a few knee sergurys they suckk. but hey i jsut came back this season really stoked from my acl. it felt weird and still feels weird but u gotta learn what feels weird and what is pain. its very different . mine is all good tho only hurts a little but first day i was doing everything possible. the key tho if it starts to bug u to much is just land backwards haha works well. i skied all season without getting acl sergury by landing backwards. was less pressure on the knee. good luck man hope all goes well. stretch that all the timee!!!

hm, makes sense. i dont feel anything at all when i land backwards after hitting jumps or rails. guess i gotta stay on my feet and only go for 5s, 9s, sw 3s 7s and 10s this season hahaah
