Is the salomon SPK marker true midsole? (mounting dispute)

So i'm in a dispute with a shop over a binding mount. I wanted a team mount on my Atomic Blog and they mounted it on the furthest line back.

They claim:

"Hello,

we have checked your claim in-house.

As you'll see on your ski we have made a manual line for the mounting (see your last picture) and this line is
on mounting point "Team". Therefore we have mounted the bindings correctly.
Two things could be happen:
1. The marker on your boots is wrong
2 . we got a wron sole length from you , you gave us 317 mm"



I feel kinda treated like an idiot. As they have 2 manual lines and they must have used the the furthest back.

Well it doesn't look like the midsole mark on the boot is wrong, btw what shop mounted them?

i always stay and watch while my bindings are being mounted ...

another shop-mount fail.
whoever mounted them wasnt paying attention to the line and went ahead and mounted at traditional from the looks of it.
that sucks really badly and i hope the shop changes their tune and helps you out.

Doesn't look to be anything wrong with the midsole line on the boot, and its hard to imagine how there could be since (correct me if i'm wrong) its a moulded part of the shell.
If they have your boot size right (317mm) then they mounted them wrong, simple as that.

Essentially seems like they mounted wrong and now they seem to be looking to avoid having to pay out for a remount + comp or for a new pair. Have you got a copy of the mounting form (that you usually get when you get your skis mounted)?

that is absolutely retarded. its bad enough that they fucked up your skis but now theyre trying to cover it up, o course the salomon marker is true midsole. Im guessing that message is from an email? print it out and bring it to the shop. have them look at your boot sole length to prove you actually have a 317 bsl so you rule that one out, then ask if you can call up salomon and ask if the marker on their boot is really the midsole, put them on speakerphone.

looks like someone read the jig wrong. it happens. they shoukd refund you and remount it. that woukd be standard practice

The shop is www.sport-conrad.com in Germany and I live in Holland so stopping by is not really an option....

I emailed them pictures with the ski which had 2 hand drawn lines and my bootsole length.

They replied this:

Hello,

we have checked your order and especially the remarks of your order.
We wrote Team -2,5 cm which will be mounting point which we have mounted the bindings.
Therefore in the right position.

I wrote on the order form:

Team recommended is at -2.5 cm right? that's where i would like them mounted!

They are definitely trying to dodge their responsibility!

this is a very weird thing to hear, sport conrad has an outstanding reputation, i have 3 friends who got their skis mounted there without any problem...

are you sure the BSL you gave em was correct ?

yes it is on the fucking ski! I'm not an idiot! I even emailed a picture afterwards of the bsl and the 2 handdrawn mounting lines.

They claim i wrote that i wanted it mounted team -2.5, and they claim that by what i wrote above.

They do have a good reputation, that's why I ordered there, but their customer service sucks balls. They are hard to reach by phone and slow in replying to emails. And they blame me for this while it is their fuckup. I'm so pissed right now. I'm going on a skiing trip on friday.

So I either ask for a discount and remount later, which will make the ski harder to sell later on because it has 2 mounts on it. Or I send the ski's back and I have no ski's for the trip.

yeah, looks like they made a mistake, just take the skis out on your trip, i'm sure they'll still ski fine, and in the mean time keep bitchin them :)

also let em know you're expecting a counter-offer/compensation from their side, but you'll ski them in the mean time ...

so they can't fuck you in the future saying the ski has already been used so its no longer under shop warranty or something like that...

best of luck bro, i've been skiing twins mounted way back for 3 years, initially i hated them and hated the shop, but it's also got some advantages, the ski i had was an exceptional charging ski, so anyway you mount it, it'll perform good without a doubt, you'll learn to like em the way they are ;) !

is there a ski shop nearby you can go in to and buy a pair of skis at? i would agree that its their mistake and they are trying to dodge the responsibility. I'm surprised because they have a good reputation, but not quite sure what you can do here.

if you remount they should give you some compensation because it will devalue the ski later.
