Any NSer with a heart disease?

Dear, Newschoolers

A year and a half ago I was diagnosed with Coronary heart disease. The doctor told me there was a great possibility that my days are numbered...... I was wondering if there were any other NSer's that have a heart disease/condition and how are you coping with it?

I for one just think it goes to show how precious our lives are and how we should live life to the fullest. So ive made a bucket list. And im planning to do as much for my fellow friends and the sport i am so devoted to.


Skiing means the world to me and ill be skiing til the day i die!

A shout out to all of NS for continually brightening up my day and helping me thought these hard times

shit man, vibes for sure.

I have Aortic Stenosis. Doesn't mix with skiing at all whatsoever. Large and growing Aorta means if i taco a rail or take a slam trying a new flip, basically go into cardiac arrest. Its shitty, but I'll get surgery next summer to deal with it. Until then i wear a chest protector every time i ski. Not nearly as bad as what you have to go through, stay strong man.

Thanks for posting man. I read somethign similar a few months ago and it sparked an entire new outlook on life that I took up for about a month but kind of forgot about...this reminded me.

Basically, we only live once...and there's no reason to be afraid or hesitant about anything you want to do. If you see an opportunity take it. If you want to talk to a girl who you're attracted to, do it, regardless of potentially getting shot down. Be good to your family and stay out of trouble and the opportunities are endless. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take" I thank you for reminding how a positive outlook on life and not being afraid to do the things you want are very important. I'll leave you with Jimmy V's speech, which is one of the most inspiring things I've ever read.

vibes man. that sucks. i have to get my heart checked out but just for irregular beats... we have something in our family that shows up every so often and tends to kill people off before 30... super healhy people too. I also just had blood testing done to check liver and kidney function and a plethora of other shit as well because I've been pretty sick for the past 5-6 months.

i like your list. you should get on it!

put those macbook's im selling you guys to work on a cure. download this program and it runs on your computer when you are not using it, basically eating up free CPU cycles for itself. Then it submits results back to Stanford. In fact I am somewhat surprised there isn't a team newschoolers.

if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Know that there is help for this stuff, explore your options. Of course there's the classic surgeries, but as I'm sure your doctor told you, you should decrease your risk factors like alter your diet, definitely don't smoke, exercise (ski!) and do all the other stuff they said. And i really hope it never comes down to this but, carry some aspirin around in case of a heart attack.

My uncle had a problem with his coronary artery too, he had surgery to fix it and he's all good now.

i have an exceptionally large heart (yeah, i know), like it's disproportionately large for my size. 2 sizes too big, whatever. but it's not an issue, i'm healthy, it's just an oddity.

my grandfather had that, constantly got testing done. it didn't kill him, instead his smoking did.

Yea I had open heart surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot and I have heart disease. Regular checkups and no contact sports but it's not that bad. I have an awesome murmor and scars. My days are numbered too but I'm not worried about it. Just live life and hope someday medicine will come up with a fully plastic heart.

I am doing all the things I can to decrease my risks. Ive already gone into cardiac arrest once and that was the worst experience of my life. Im in the hospital almost as much as im at home. And that gets in the way of high school like you wouldn't believe. the problem with surgery is i just recently been having blood transfusions + blood thinners and I have a very weak immune system. the doctor doesn't know if my body could handle a big surgery.
