look what they said about their warranty
Salomon's warranty does not cover the following : - Damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect or normal wear-and-tear.
- Damage caused during storage.
- Oxidized or rusted components, such as hardware and edges.
- Damage resulting from tuning machines, grinders or waxes, including solvents, cleaners and polishes.
- Improper fitting or sizing of products.
- Any type of impact damage resulting in cosmetic/top edge damage, i.e. top sheet chipping

im really really pissed about the top Sheet chipping thing because my new salomon suspects are chipping like a mofo and they are still under warranty and i was just going to ask for $ from the top sheey chiping so with that money i could buy some 2010 Volki walls >:| im never buying another ski from salomon ever again

That warranty is pretty close to the warranties of all other ski companies. However, you probably won't need the warranty from most other companies tha actually make good skis

Sounds like you'll never ski again then because that warranty is an industry standard.  And by the way, top sheet chipping doesn't do a thing.  All skis chip.

Wow, kids still buy salomon skis ? The dumont ''edge armour'' story didnt convince you enough 2-3 years ago ? Salomon park skis are the most expensive and shittiest skis.

I have never bought suspects and never will.
At the shop I work at, I actually try to make sure that people don't buy suspects because of edge armor
I love my SPK Kaos boots though, but some guy's quest AT boots exploded while skiing and fucked up his leg bad, sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

ya i know just on the Suspects the chiping is ridiculous how much it chips becasue i have 12 days in and at first the chip started small on the edge of the ski and BAM! next thing you know the top sheet shiping is close to the center of the ski :/ im scared now that if i take a bad fall etc.... it will make the ski go right to the core of the ski

In canada, Dumonts and Suspects are like 700-750 bucks. It's a huge fucking joke. Yes it's a good ski if you're spanzarized and get new ones every two weeks, but dude, you aint a pro, you might have to pay for you things and they'll last you for like 2 months of good skiing.

hahahaha is that a joke? that is the shittest thing i have ever seen. Salomons are 750 bucks because 50% of that goes to paying for their dumbass marketing campaigns and replacing nick martini's and matt walker's skis (along with 1/2 the other pros in the industry's) skis every week and a half

this has been/will be said many times in this thread. but it's true, stop whining, skis chip and it's no big deal.

i figured you were going to show us something along the lines of "warranty voided the second you mount the skis" or something like that, but everything here is pretty normal. at least they dont completely bar you from recovering under warranty for BREAKING your skis, and they dont expressly say anything about rails/park features, which many ski companies say will void their warranties.

anyway, if you want your skis to stay pretty just hang them on your wall and never mount them, otherwise youve got a problem. sports gear is meant to get beat up.

i bought binding from salomon, got them mounted used them less than 1 run and they broke. i wasnt riding them hard or anything. it was in light powder about 6in of it an halfway down the heelpeice snapped off into a smaal andlarge peice. ate it preaty bad. then took them to the shop as soon as i got to the bottom of my hill, they looked at them and they called the maneger out(oh i forgot to mention the bindings i had before this were salomon and they broke the first day i had them as well doing a simple 180. backpeice broke)let it be known i was pissed.  the maneger is a young guy who skis almost everyday at my mountain. he only buys salomon skis, boots, and bindings. he decides to bring out all his skis to show me for some reason i dont know, and starts yelling at me because i must be doing something wrong he said so i leave the store and go to our other local shop and buy new armada thalls with dynastar bindings. the next day i go back to ski and the maneger came up to talk to me outside the shop and he tells me he was sorry and talked to a salomon rep to get me new bindings since two of them broke. fortunatly for me he got binding for me free of charge from that rep.

 i guess it turned out good for me but from there durability. im not going to use them im just ganna sell them to someone for dirt cheap. it amazing how much a company really cares about there customers. i understand i was lucky that i got new bindings but for everyone else they really just sell them for the money and not to please the sking community.

Cheap salomon bindings are terrible, everyone knows this. You have to buy the STH, preferably the 16, or rock some of the older ones, because they were actually stronger. Anything with the z-series toe is garbage.

Not going to lie, that sucks.

In my opinion, Salomon makes amazing gear. Bindings for sure.
I'm entering my 4th season on my STH 16s. They have been amazing for me. I've broken a pair of skis on them, and completely killed (dead ski) another pair. I'm hard on my gear. The fact that the binding is the only thing that has lasted more than 2 seasons for me is amazing. They have taken a beating though. General wear and tear, springs are wearing out, toe wings are loosening up.

In response to OP. Salomon isn't full of dicks because they didn't give you what you wanted. In this industry, the "customer is always right" rule doesn't apply. You are responsible for your own gear and how you treat it. If you decide to not take proper care of it, too bad.
Warranty should only apply for something like manufacturing defects and stuff the company should have control over.
You broke your shit, cause you're an idiot. Deal with it. I've been stupid with my gear before, and I dealt with it.

Basically Salomon is saying that if you wreck your own gear due to your own stupidity, it's your fault. How is this a problem?

In any industry, warranties cover COMPANY defects- things that are their fault due to a manufacturing error or design flaw. Warranties do not cover things you do that result from your misuse.

The top sheet on my suspects just chipped because the binding got torn out. switch 3 on a 6 foot gap... fuck Salomon I've wrecked all their shit. Third pair of suspects and I've torn their bindings clean off my ski another time...

I personally think salmon has an amazing warranty. They(and every other ski company) only warranty's defects in workmanship IE a ski breaking when it shouldn't, or it delaming quickly, etc. I got a pair of boots warrantied because the lace broke on my liners as well as the tongue pull's(defects in workmanship) chipping is from hitting your skis together when you ski. edge damage is from hitting rails, they are not defects in workmanship

This sounds to me like a pretty normal and standard warranty...
top sheet chipping definitely doesnt have to be cover in the warranty..
dont really understand the hate on Salomon : they're making great skis, probably some of the best bindings out there, great boots and outerwear...they also support very well our sport !
