It's also rockered, I don't know if that's your kind of thing, but it certainly isn't mine.

another quick question: whats the significance of the oddly shaped front half of the ski?

That's rocker, it means the ski has no contact point in the tip and tail, but has it underfoot.

no like it gets wider in the front but its symmetrically shaped in the back

Probably to float over powder better, that just seems to be how armada designs their rockered skis.
You get much less pop with rocker than you do with camber.

I'm pretty sure that is part of their whole "elf shoe" design. By making it wider in the tips and tails they are creating more sidecut and making it easier for whole side of the ski to be touching the snow when turning. This makes carving more pleasant, and also makes floating on pow easier.

I just got those skis, the partial reverse sidecut that the ski has in the tip and tail is def not for pow! the rocker doesnt help a lot in pow as well. if ur buying that ski its only for groomers and park.
its still but its still very good for butters because of the elf shoe technology i think. so if u push hard on the tip when doing butters u get a btter pop than u would get wit the halo. i think the reverse sidecut in the tip and tail helps in 2 ways. 1st it makes the radius smaller and makes carving a lot of fun (i personaly detuned my edges a lot so that when i ski i dont catch an edge everytime i wanna go bigger or smaller than my radius)
and 2nd it really makes butters easier i think bcos of the shape of the tip and tail.
the ski is super light and super playful, but i dont think if for beginners, so if ur not getting into this now, just go for it ; )
hope that helps
