First Hoodie from "scratch"

So I just sewed my first hoodie, it was pretty simple, I just sewed in a white extension piece in an existing hoodie. It was really fun and now I wanna make one from pattern. What I'm wondering though is with my limited skill, would it be easier to make a crew or a hoodie? And if I use a pattern, how hard is it to lengthen the pattern to get the standard tall fit?

extending an existing pattern should be relatively simple. the hoodie pattern should be squared at the bottom, so all you have to do is just add the extra amount of length you want when you cut out your fabric.
a crew neck could be simpler than assembling a hoodie if you don't have the proper pieces for a hoodie. however, if you have a hoodie pattern, it's pretty simple to sew on. you just need your hood, the hood facing (basically the hood piece a second time) and you just sew the one seam, then attach it to the neckline.
