Is the din too high on the binding for me?

i usually have my griffons set around 6 or a 7, but i just broke those and decided to pick up a pair of the black and yellow fkx 14's (which i am hoping is the same as the fks14, correct me if im wrong) that have a din 5-14. for some reason i remember hearing that the older fks's dins are like super dins if you will, such as a 4 on the fks is like a 6 on the griffons. Im not sure if this is true, it doesnt really make sense to me..

either way, will the fkx's din of 5-14 be too high for me? I heard that you shouldn't be riding with your bindings din so low to its minimum din, which i will probably have around 6

btw im 5 foot 8, 125 pounds, aggresive skier.

i got the same bindings. id say start at the din you usually ride and work from there. i have mine set at 7 and im 5foot 5inch and 140.

That binding might be a little bit if overkill for the DIN you like to ride at, but they should work fine on 6 or 7

You'll be fine, the turntable helps the release, in fact, I usually ride my FKS bindings 1 higher than I normally would ride any other binding (I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you're really comfortable with it). Your shop tech should know what's up when they check the chart and do the release tests and they'll set it accordingly.

industry (and legally) speaking your DIN is a result of the following: your height, your weight, your age, your skier type, and your boot sole length.

I would just start low and go up in din from there. Just experiment and find the din you need. That's what I do and it works. But, I would also head to a shop ahead of time to get their opinion because they do know what their doing. typically where they set mine is 1 level too low, so I then adjust it from there.

6, doesn't really matter what binding it is.  The difference will be tiny if any.

okay, thats what i thought. i bumped up my griffons to a 7 on my bentchetlers and they released fine...i found out the hard way haha

so a 7 on a din that goes down to 5. is that going to release okay and what not?

also, i know they are supposed to pivot back and forth smooth because i was toying around with some at my shop. the ones that i got dont at all. its rough. i can describe it as it feels like there is sand in the parts that it rotates i guess.

thats sort of a myth. your binding should perform the same at a certain din compared to other bindings regardless if its the lowest or highest din or a din somewhere in between. i wouldnt be to concerned with the sand thing.
