ok i just read anthony b's thread on halfpipe in the olympics.

in the interview the question person stated......"none of the worlds best skiiers ski moguls"??????
whhhhhaaaatttttt!!!!!!! the best skiers in the world ski moguls......if your a mogul skier you can pre much ski anything. just sayin

He wasn't saying mogul skiers suck, he was saying that many of the "freeskiers" would be the pro mogul skiers of today had they not switched disciplines.

Mogul skiing isn't the cool thing for skiers to do anymore so those with natural talent get pulled towards parks or big mountain.

Although I will say mogul skiing does make you a better skier, so does racing and that topic has been beatin into the ground.

wow. pull your head out of your ass for 2 seconds, please.

not every mogul skier can automatically ski anything they want, but that doesn't mean all of them are physically unable. mogul skiers have the best legwork and edge control of pretty much every other discipline of skiing, and to say that doesn't translate over is the most uneducated statement.

I'd like to see true mogul skiing. Instead of boosting off of those man-made kickers mid course, How about throwing spreads and cosacks off of moguls instead. I'm calling for a return of hot doggin' mogul skiing.

the majority of people i ski with with a formal background in moguls are extremely technically sound skiers. if you can shred a mean bump line you're a solid skier.

i think the point anthony was trying to get across can best be described by the late Shane McConkey (aka saucer boy)

I think we can all remember the picture of his epic naked spread eagle.
he did that as an f you to the rules around mogul skiing.

He did a crazy run but the judges kicked him out because he did a backflip, so he told them he was going back to the top to get his gear, then he stripped naked and did the infamous trick.
Rules suck.
Anthony was saying that the rules of mogul skiing limit their creativity.

May he ski in peace.

Delorme skied moguls before he skied park. You can see it in how he skis, he always keeps his knees together.

But I disagree with what the OP said about being able to ski anything if you can ski moguls, that's definitely not true.

The worlds best skiers can ski moguls. The best mogul skiers can't ski everything/anything.

I've seen the best park rat skiers I know shred a bump line. I've never seen a bump skier ski a rail, jump, or line like they can.

Oh God. This thread is going to be huge. I can feel it. 1st page claim.

Anyway, I'm just going to try to stay neutral on this. Skiing moguls gives you balance and edge control, but I don't really see how edge control is that important in the park (I could be wrong). I think park skiing needs a lot of spatial awareness. For example, in a front flip, you can't spot your landing, so you have to be really good at sensing how far from the landing you are. I don't really see how that plays into mogul skiing that much, but again, I could be wrong.

as much as i hate how fucking arrogant this thread is based on the fact that the OP skis moguls he is pretty much right. take mike henituk for example. kills moguls, and everything else. one of the best urban skiers around (just watch EDIAS or revolver) and slays pow too.

well you are mostly right, but your argument can also be saying that racers can be the best skiers becuase it takes skiing tallent to be good at it. so this whole argment on this thread is a bit silly considering how many hypothetical situations there are. also OP is just supporting what he likes to do so you will never win it wil most likely come down to an opinion.

I am sorry but just because you ski bumps does not mean you can automatically ski everything. I mean sure it is a very hard to be good at but just because you are good at moguls does not mean you can ski anything.

lol im not saying that if you ski bumps you automatically can ski anything. the way he stated it tho said mogul skiers arnt some of the best in the world. You learn very valuable technique that you cannot learn in other types of skiing and you learn how to jump and learn how to ski better. Im not saying because im a mogul skier I can go shred urban or throw dub corks. I still ski a lotta of park and had to learn rails and park tricks separately. I just think that mogul skiers should be respected as some of the best skiers out there. Also moguls is still "Freestyle" whether you like it or not so idk why there is so much hate on them.

Plain and simple, mogul skiers are NO LONGER some of the best skiers on earth.  Other aspects of freestyle skiing are pulling better athletes to bigger better things.
