Edges + Rails = ???

So yesterday I skied for the first time at Sunday River on my new AR7's, I skied just regular terrain for the entire day, and then around 1:30pm, we were told about a small set up with some jibs. Of course we went to go check them out, and they were not big at all, maybe 1 down rail, a flat rail and 2 boxes, nothing special.

So I attempt to hit the down rail first. I hop on, and slide it but get caught up and end up falling forward. So I get up, gather my poles and stuff, and move on, no big deal. Next was a flat rail, it was maybe 2 feet off the round if not less. Now I've progressed in rails for 3 years now, not saying I'm really good or anything but I can do basic tricks, like 270 out both ways, some switch up's, maybe a k fed if I'm lucky. So I'm not even thinking about hitting this rail its just a natural reaction. But as soon as I get both my skis on the rail, my skis did not move and my upper body flew forward, smashing my shoulder into the rail, It hurt like a motha fucka.

Two of my friends were with me and saw it happen, they said I didn't do anything wrong or strange, so I'm just wondering why this could have happened. Maybe the edges on my brand new skis, or something, I really don't know....

If you have any comments I'd appreciate it

explain the difference between inexperience and retardation. because it is ok to not know. and it is ok to ask. its even ok to be retarded if thats really the case, but it isnt. insecure little phiistines are the difference between here and places like tgr, which can be welcoming and informative. why is it sooo important to seem cool and in the know on the internet. offering a helpful explanation or not posting at all are both better options than firing off unfounded hate for no reason. get over yourself.

I'm with you on the unfounded hate thing. But the answer to this question is so obvious, that anyone should be able to figure it out. That's no reason to hate, but OP should have probably thought a little harder, and maybe searchbarred a little? Or is it just me?

Haha this thread makes me LOL.

It really is a simple obvious answer, and to the other kids wondering why they get stuck up on some rails and not on others, then think its their skis.............. even better.

It's true that they naturally round but if you don't detune new skis there is a higher risk or cracking your edges. I had the same problem my first day on my new skis except i didn't eat shit luckily i just kept catching. I went to the base, bought a file, detuned a little underfoot, and the problem was fixed
