Bring back the chat, let people fight there

I say bring back the chat. Let the idiots fight with each other there and leave the forums for actually discussing something. This would entail a lot more mod participation and some people might be offended when their post is deleted but they have to realize this is a business and the business has the right to censor THEIR website. It's not a free country, you don't have rights online.
In order to keep the site running NS needs to sell ad space. In order to do that customers (members) have to keep coming back and they won't if something isn't done. No one respects each other anymore and it's just a shit show. Karma did absolutely nothing to help this. NS will die if something isn't done in the future. The core members who built this community are growing up and leaving because they don't want to read this crap anymore. Some of you idiots will say just leave then. Well if you keep telling other members that eventually they will and then who are you going to make fun of from the anonymity of the internet?
Everyone already hates the image of our community at NS. If we don't have a genuine change in attitude here then the site WILL die.

We don't even need NS chat, we just need the ignorant idiots that are arguing in the forum to move to private messages. It's quite simple, but for some reason most people on here have a super hard time figuring it out. It turns into a bitchfest where one person tries to trump the other in attempt to gain e-cred and look good "owning" someone else.

I would support that. It's not a perfect online world where everyone posts relevant usefullness, but the last few weeks I've hardly post at all because dumb responses and off topic posts are at an all time high. It's not a cure-all but it could help weed out some useless crap. Maybe it could be like facebooks chat that isnt logged like PM's are, I wonder if that would make it easier

The people who purposely argue with people and fight about stupid shit, and bring nothing but hate really need to be moderated. Just ban the fuckers or something. Newschoolers is getting out of hand nad a place that's not even fun to be anymore, it's just addicting now basically (and good videos.)
BUT SERIOUSLY the forums really need to be controlled more.

I don't really venture into the forums much anymore, unless I am really bored and go to NSG (usually not a good call) so I do know where you are coming from. That said, I feel like the cults were one attempt at providing an environment where the content is more controlled, and there are some good cults out there. In fact, I usually only post in cults. I have been making an effort these days to at least pay attention to the rest of NS, in hopes that it will rise again though. On the whole it isn't bad, you just need to know where to look. The people who do contribute make NS worth it.
As to bringing chat back, it would have to be in a totally new way. The original mini-chat format would not work with the sheer number of members we now have... No matter the format, I think that it might just end up in another place for people to spam/argue, but without even reducing said behaviour in other forums. We already have forums, cults, PM... chat just might be another outlet for bad behaviour without really contributing anything. Then again, it could be worth a shot to give it a trial if a new format is developed.
Honestly I don't think you could ever really rid all of the idiots, and in a way, they are part of what makes NS the site it is haha (I am not condoning this behaviour though!).
