Alot of snow already. I did not go through the park. It looked sick from Chair 1 though, the most jibs I have ever seen on opening weekend which is rad. A bunch of cool people working on Park crew this year. Alot of powder already, looks like its going to be a good year.

We got quite a bit set up on Sat morning. The jumps aren't much, but the 20ft flat and 20ft down rails are really nice

AHHHHHH it's hard sitting here in Bozeman looking at their website. Hopefully everyone in the valley got up there today. 15" is quite the storm.

I highly doubt 15 inches maybe 9 on friday but it built up i think sunday was the best day still untouched spots and literally no lift lines because it was starting to rain at the base

BOONE Skis is offering a free pair of our park skis to the top amateur winner of the open rail jam. Not to mention pow skis for 399 for anyone on the BIG this winter.

Other than that free beer on BOONE Skis if you happen to ride the lift with us this winter in whitefish.

the set up will be sick this year, i can promise you that

we haven't gotten any snow really since i've been here so about a week. today, unfortunately, was also pretty icy, but on other days it has been sunny with soft snow at least. hopefully we should get some snow soon but the forecast hasn't honestly been looking too promising for a big snowfall.. so we'll see.

and as far as jumps go, there aren't any. except some tiny ass ones in the mini park, but they are builing up mounds of snow for bigger jumps so hopefully they come soon..

anyone heard anything about what the setup might be for new years?

If you want to hit some DOPE ASS JIBS, go to moonlight. Its a bit icy and hard right now, but damnnn I wish big mtn would build a jib line like they have right now. Definitely worth going too

Im probably not doing the rail jam, we will see what they have set up first tho. Im going to be skiing all this next week though with the freestyle team. The jibs in the park were sick last time I went like a week ago. Ill see you all up there.

I'm looking for some driving advice. Heading to Whitefish via I-80 east from Spokane. there is a cuttoff road to head north called highway135. Is this open in winter and if so is it worth going that way, or head all the way down to Missoula. I'm assuming weather can make 135 pretty slow if it's dumping.

Yea you should definitely take that way, its not closed in the winter. Its not really a gnarly pass or anything with steep roads, so even if there is some snow its not bad. Its only two lane and i wouldnt be going 70 if its snowing, but you should be fine.

pretty fun rail jam.. was a little skeptical on the setup but it turned out to be pretty fun. ended up with some stitches on my elbow though.. the kid who won is Ben Hill? (i dunno, it's Ben something)

Does anybody know anything about an urban rail in Hungry Horse? We're looking to do some urban tomorrow and someone told me about a c-rail that they heard about, but everyone I've called has no idea about it. Any insight?

Park is really banger right now we have a full 5 features picnic table, s-rail, flat box, pole jam-side by side-trap box. Its to bad theres only 2 jibs you can hit in a row before you get blasted in the face by snowguns. The jumps are short distance with excessive pop. The push over to them becomes annoying. Mini park hasnt been changed since they opened so its gotten old. We have had decent rollers for jumps for a couple days but nothing seems to be happening with them and i havent heard any plans. Last year we had 3 fun jumps and a full rail line all the way down. I have no idea why they are blowing more snow during mid january. Im sure we would have plenty of to last us till closing. Im not expecting a full park until at least the end of january. Its a shame to have a full rail line the first weekend and then start backtracking.

Just left town today to go back to school. Super fun break, except I think the park somehow got worse, oh well. Jibspo was on today, so many good hits lined up.

Jumpline on central went up this week. they are very nice compared to past seasons imo. second hit is super easy to go deep, but they are nice in the sense that you don't need much speed to boost very large.

Nightriders contest "Best trick" TOMORROW NIGHT which is basically a big air contest on the last Central jump. Jumps look fun, dont need a ton of speed into em either.

OK, here's the deal on the Night Riders Best Trick Sat night. The 3rd table on Central Ave. will have 3 jumps on it... 15', 25' and 45' (give or take)

Registration is @ 3 comp begins @ 6

Chance Ling took home the Men’s Open Snowboard division win with a Backside Rodeo 540. “It was awesome,” said Ling after taking the podium. “I saw some super sick tricks and methods tonight.”

Former WMR Freestyle Team member and coach Danner Pickering took the top spot in the Open skier division with a Cork 720 Tail Blunt. Other podium placements were: Matthew Hensley (Men’s Amateur Ski 13+); Brad Tiefenthaler (Men’s Amateur Snowboard 13+); Parkin Costain (Men’s Grom Ski 8-12); Hunter Lamoureux (Men’s Grom Snowboard 8-12); Marley Rodwick (Ladies’ Ski 8+): and Aimee Bartell (Ladies’ Snowboard 8+).

In addition to Costain and Lamoureux, the WMR Freestyle Team had a strong showing in the top three finishers for each division. For the skiers, Austin West placed third in the Men’s Amateur division, Wyatt Coe and James Heil placed second and third, respectively, in Men’s Grom, and Tatum Lannaghan placed third in the Ladies’ division. Kyle Thomsen placed second in the Men’s Amateur Snowboard division.

The Night Riders Park Series continues this weekend during the Whitefish Winter Carnival with a Rail Jam at 5:45 p.m. followed by a torchlight parade and fireworks show at 7:00 p.m. The conclusion of the series is a Slopestyle competition on Feb. 25, with a cash purse of $1200 for competitors in the series.
