Go to MSU Bozeman if you want to be close to skiing. 15 minutes to Bridger Bowl and 1 hour to Big Sky and Moonlight. Being in Colorado will mean you have to deal with that i70 bullshit.

you can do it in 1.5 hours staying around 10-15 over the whole way. most people go like 15 over on 1-70 anyway.

I got to Breck in an hour and 50 minutes last week. The drive really isn't that bad. Foco is a way chill place though. People say CSU is for all the kids that didn't get into CU but its actually full of kids who decided not to put up with the snobby ass rich california hipsters. Also CSU isn't as into greek life like CU is. If your a frat bro then you'll fit perfectly in boulder.

Plus in my professional opinion Foco has the best girls in Colorado..hands down

DU...girls with money...but Fort Collins and Boulder are definitely a close race for 2nd.

Thank you. I love fort collins, never left yet. It kinda sucks how far away we are from skiing but it's doable. Even though it's a 3 hour drive I like steamboat the best. But closest is definitely loveland.

i grew up in fort collins and will be living in boulder next year, and i believe the closest resort to fort collins is Echo Mountain, it's a tiny place and is 90% terrain park. besides that you can get the nice resorts in maybe an hour and a half with no traffic on a smooth drive, but with traffic it can be up to 4 hours

fort collins is a fun place to go out, and there are alot of girls there. its far from skiing though.

Nope. I transferred from DU to CSU. CSU blows DU away in the hot girl department. Hard to say if CSU or CU have hotter girls though. I'd say it's about the same. More fake, pretentious girls in Boulder though. The hippie girls in Fort Collins are definitely hotter than the Boulder hippie girls though and I have a weak spot for hippie girls. I see no reason for the CU/CSU hate though. Both are chill places/schools.



Anyways, OP, stop saying "like" so much. It's "like" really annoying and makes you sound dumb. Fort Collins is about 2 hours from the closest resorts worth skiing, A Basin and Loveland but with traffic it's often way more than that.

And I drive the speed limit, so if you speed, you can make it a little faster.

How do you like it there?!

CU - Great campus, closer to skiing than CSU, populated by a lot of out of state kids with money, good education.

CSU - Good campus, far from skiing, populated by a lot of cool kids who are regional, decent education. (I personally like fo co a lot better than Boulder, a lot more chill and better bars, better town.)

CSM - Good campus, closer to skiing than other schools, best engineering education in the region, populated by weird ass nerds, Golden is a boring town but only 20 min from denver.

DU - Never really been to the campus so I can't comment, better develop a coke habbit, Denver is a great city if you are over 21, populated by rich kids, good education.

Western State - Ok Education, cold as shit, laid back party scene, very close to skiing, did I say cold as shit.

Ft Lewis - about the same as Western, better campus and more scenic.

That's about all the Colorado colleges worth looking at. Other mentionable are Colorado College, CU Denver, UNC and CMC.

If I had it to do over again I would have gone to Ft Lewis or CSU for a year or so then transfered to CSM, easier said than done. Maybe even red rocks or Metro then Mines.

Fort collins is an dope town they have some amazing restaurants. There is a super scrumsious Mexican restaurant downtown. They also have an amazing breakfast place, it's like all yellow and has the best french toast i have ever had.

CSU definitely does not have the best girls in colorado... and it is a fact that a lot of students who attend CSU did not receive acceptance into CU. If you want to be close to mountains, I'd highly suggest Boulder.

I have a few questions and I'd love some opinions from people who go to either DU or CSU. I'm transferring for next fall, and seriously considering both schools.

What school do you go to, and what is your major? (CSU or DU)
What other schools did you apply to, and what made you choose the school you are at now?
How do you like the school? And the people there?
What are your classes like? (small vs. large, easy, hard, how are the professors?)
What is the town like and how do you like it? Are there a lot of things to do?
What is the night life like?
How would you rate the campus/ dorms?

Csu; engineering. I applied to a lot but wasn't seriously considering going there. Chose csu because I'm from fort collins and they have a good engineering program and just about my whole family went to csu and/or still goes here. (two cousins are at csu now). I like the school and love the people and love the town. My classes are hard (but I'm in engineering), about average size. I have some classes with 30 kids and some with over 100. Most teachers are pretty cool. I like fort Collins, I really like the size. The night life is fun if you know where to go. I never really have a bad night.

I forgot to mention that I really like fort Collins too because I feel totally safe walking around at night alone. I don't feel the same way in the Denver area

I went to both so I'll compare both for you!


What school do you go to, and what is your major?
-I went to DU my freshman/sophomore year where I was a went from a Business major to a Geography major with a minor in Business Administration.
-Transferred to CSU my junior year and last spring off to get instate/ski instruct. I'm now a major in Natural Resources Management and am thinking of either minoring in Business Administration since I have classes that would transfer into it from Denver or I'm thinking about minoring in Conservation Biology since a lot of the classes overlap with my major and it would take less time to graduate (I'm already going to be at least a 5th year senior).

What other schools did you apply to, and what made you choose the school you are at now?
-At first I didn't even contemplate applying to CSU. I applied to MSU (bozeman), UVM and DU. I got into all of them. Chose DU because the campus was so damn beautiful and it was in a city (lots going on, great concerts/night life) yet still really close to the mountains. I only applied to/transferred to CSU after the college trust fund my family had set up was mismanaged and my family couldn't afford being stuck with the full $45,000+ tuition on such last minute notice. I transferred to CSU instead of CU because they had a better program for what I wanted to study. I was surprised CU didn't have a better Environmental Science type program.

How do you like the school? And the people there?
-I like both schools a lot but honestly, I miss the small atmosphere at DU. It was just big enough where you could meet people constanty and avoid people if you don't like them, yet small enough that you see your friends everywhere. When I transferred to CSU, I literally knew nobody here and at first, I found the school overwhelmingly huge and it almost made it harder to meet people since you'd meet one person and never see them again or not see them for weeks. At DU I would see people I recently met walking around campus constantly. Contrary to what people may say about either school, both have really cool people. I honestly don't understand why people bitch about DU rich kids. Just because their family's worked hard for their money, doesn't mean they aren't cool people. Not everyone there has a lot of money either so don't make assumptions.

What are your classes like? (small vs. large, easy, hard, how are the professors?)
-My classes are way bigger at CSU than they were at DU. The biggest class I ever had at DU was 90 people, while next semester I'll be taking nearly a 300 person class. If you don't mind being just another figure in the crowd then CSU is great when you're taking your general classes but if you want a smaller atmosphere, DU is the way to go for sure. I got much more interaction with my teachers there. Once you get higher in your major, CSU gets smaller but the smallest class I've had here is like 40 people, whereas my smallest class at DU was 18, and for a very similar class. Both schools have great professors.


What is the town like and how do you like it? Are there a lot of things to do? What is the night life like?
-DU is just east of downtown Denver and you can take the literail or any bus there for free. During the fall, there's parties every weekend and (if you're social enough), you eventually get to know who's having parties on which nights. Also, Denver has some of the best concerts in the nation if you are into that scene. The bar scene at DU itself sucks but if you go downtown it's great, you just don't see as many people from your own college there.
-CSU has a good nightlife too but I've had a hard time finding parties here. Maybe it's just because I'm new and dont' know enough people yet and didn't live in the dorms here. It's more of a bar scene here though for sure, which is fun but fucking expensive to party at bars instead of actual parties. I've also found that the parties here at CSU are less welcoming to unfamilliar people than DU was.


How would you rate the campus/ dorms?
Both campus's are great but DU has one of the most beautiful/well kept campus' i've ever seen, everything is close/easily accessable. I didn't live in the dorms at CSU but the dorms at DU were fun. If you end up there, go with the JMac dorms. It's smaller but it's more socially set-up so you'll meet mroe people and it's got a better location IMO.


Oh, and being from San Francisco originally, fuck people who complain about out-of-state California kids. They're really complaining about "Bros" or "douches" (basically not down to earth people) who come from EVERYWHERE. If it was any part of California where these "bros" come from, it would be the Orange County/LA kids but at the same time, some of the chillest people I know are also from Orange County/LA. You find chill people from everywhere, everywhere you go. It's all about your additude and perspective. Oh, and don't judge a book by it's cover. I've met people in college who I normally would never talk to (i.e. spiked hair, fist pumping lookin guy) who turn out to be incredibly cool people and damn good skiers/snowboarders.

if you like to party fort collins is the shit its kinda far from ski areas but my friend and i went to fort collins and we found 40 bucks on the street and bought siliciden pills and tripped and got really drunk for free cause we saw a house party and there was a keg and we had our own cups. but back to the original question no ski areas aree as close as eldora loveland and echo. but its a great party town and theres horse tooth

It's probably the fact that I'm a girl and in Fort Collins I know where I am, I don't know my way around Denver that well.
