Replying to what VECTORS really are
vector images are defined mathematically as a series of graphical elements that are called objects. each object is a self-contained entity, with properties such as color, shape, outline, size, and position on the screen included in its definition.
i've seen a lot of 'vectors' in the digital art section in pictures. they are not vectors unless you use a vector program such a flash or imageready. also, vectors are resolution independent, which means that no matter how big or small you make them, they keep there resolution (clearness). vectors are simply, an image created from areas that are certain colors and sizes and shapes, unlike how photoshop will tell a certain pixel to be a certain color.
don't get me wrong on all this though. some of the pixelated vectors are still sweet. i'm not discouraging photoshop vectoring, just letting everyone know what is and isn't a vector.
if anyone has anything to contribute to the definition of vectors, please let us know.
