Plastic on boot tongue causing pain.

The tongue of my boot has exposed plastic, and it's digging into the top of my foot.
Is it supposed to be like that?
I bought them off of ebay, and my shop says there's nothing they can do.
Bummer to the max, I literally can't ski with them.
I tried duct taping the plastic part, but that didn't help.
Any ideas?

They're Lange freestyle boots, the 07-08 model I think.

exposed plastic? like on the edge of the tongue where the plastic is stitched to the fabric?

Depends on how much is exposed... but this is typically difficult to fix. If you cut it away, you now have a sharp line/edge. If you can grind/sand it away with a Dremel, it might be your best bet. Worst cast scenario is that you have to buy some aftermarket liners like Intuition/Full Tilt.

Thank you, it's nice to see someone with boot expertise posting here.
One more question, if I have a 29 mondo boot, can I go a size down on the liner and go with 28 mondo liner and still have it fit the boot?

I have a similar problem with any liner that has a plastic tongue. my foot has a high arch so the inside part of the foot always get a lot of pressure, so I've used a dremmel (sand paper can work slowly or a hot knife) to cut away most of the plastic in that area and then use some dense kraft foam to build up the opposing side.
I know it's not exactly your problem but cutting away and gluing/taping it up should make it a lot more comfortable.

A smaller liner will always fit into a lager shell, but why do you want to go down a size in liner? Is your shell too big for you? ..that won't really fix the problem if that's what you are trying to do.

No, however I want to see if a smaller liner fits better.
