Warrnen Millers Wintervention.......... Amazed

So I went to the Wintervention premier last night in Rochester, NY( not that it matters) and I thought it was a great all around movie. it showcased big mountain, BC pillow lines, tree skiing/ riding, urban, park, and racing. as well, I thought the tribute to Arne Backstrom was the highlight of the movie. great music that 100% fit his riding. Also, for all us freeskiers, I was impressed by the athletes of our sport in the movie. they included LJ, Dumont, Nick Martini, Jossi Wells, Matt Walker,Sammy Carlson, Andreas Hatveit, JP Auclair, Charley Ager, Dane Tudor , Pep, Tim Durtschi, TJ Schiller, Brandon Kelly, Josh Stack, Julien Regnier, and Mike Henituk. Overall, I thought it was a great movie that showcased every single aspect of skiing. Even Lindsay Vonn skiing powder!! Anybody else see the movie and what are your thoughts?

You mean sold footage from PBP? How about WME actually goes out and films instead of using sold footage from other film companies.

yes. but i went last year and it was all big mountain and park snowboarding. I just thought it was nice to see some of our park athletes slaying. and yes they need to film their own shit and i am not associating the legend with this shitty company. I liked the movie, not WME, never will after that bullshit they tryed to pull on Level !

Exactly my point. WME is too busy sitting behind their desks in where ever the fuck their HQ's are counting the money they make from their movies consisting of used and sold footage from other companies and ruining a ski film-maker's name.

I only went because that is literaly the only premier that comes to my town.... ever. and i really just liked going and having a good time with my friends and getting stoked for winter

It seems reasonable because WME does pay a pretty hefty amount of money for it most likely. It doesn't mean they are a bad company now. Sometimes DVD sales won't cover production costs and other things that help PBP produce movies every year.

That was the worst Warren Miller in the last 4 years, by far. Besides, you don't go to those Warren Miller premieres for that actually movie, you just go, to go. It's one of those things.

On a side note, I enjoyed seeing all the little kids running around with tall beanies and tall hoodies that went to there knees, thinking they know what this sport is 100% about. Good stuff.

it was aweful. it shows 20 minutes of snowboarders doing park, then 1 shot for JF Houle where he didnt even get to land his trick. next, they went right into skiers in tight suits racing. Movies like this are the whole reason the public has zero awareness of freeskiing. and also, it sucked.

I saw it in Utica, and it was really good. And I scored a couple vouchers to Gore. However, the movie was really fucking long, and I could have used a calgary redeye, the night felt tense. Too many awkward old gapers there and not enough young stoke

You can be all cool and say "fuck wme", but I actually saw the movie and I was very surprised at how good it was. I would recommended it. It was kind of long, though.

Honestly, I thought the exact opposite. Other than the cheesy radio show setup, I thought it was their best one for a while. Maybe since Warren sold the company.

I think they did a pretty solid job encompassing the sport as a whole. Their target audience is the same people who buy their entire setup by SKI magazine's reviews - The people who get out 10 times a year and slide around on some groomers with their family.

If you liked their park footage and want to support that, go buy Revolver. Like previously stated, kinda weak on PBP's part to help out WME with the whole Level 1 litigation, but it all boils down to being a business. Money talks.

If OP wasn't trolling (doubtful) then watch MSP's The Way I See It, it had a great tribute to Arnie.

No, I didn't pay $25 to see the WME version of the premier, it was put on by my highschool's ski team and sponsored by our local ski shop.
