The US lost to Qatar for the world cup bid in 2022. We lost to a desert.

Qatar is probably one of the richest countries in the world, it is in the middle east, and they place soccer..whcihhh meanns, FIFA will not be putting out as much money as say they did in South Africa, and they can reunite countries into an area like Qatar. Its a perfect place to bring countries together, neither though it is 80 percent desert.

O and the stadiums are going to be in door with air conditioning..itll be badass

Qatar is a pretty horrible choice, though there could have been worse countries I suppose (looking at you Pakistan). But seriously, who even knows what the political climate will be in the middle east come 2022, the region is completely unstable. Even though I'm from the US, and would have love to see us get it, I would have also liked Australia because they have never hosted and actually have a decent soccer team. Also it would extend the World Cup to 6 continents.

Yeah, Qatar is a great choice. They have

-One major airport in their whole country

-There will be no party atmosphere because you can't drink in Qatar, so there goes that.

-In 2022, how could we possibly predict how stable the middle east is. God only knows what will be going on there in twelve

-It's the size of Conneticut

-It hits 125 on an average summer day. Yeah, they say they are building stadiums that are air conditioned, but that doesn't mean to whole country is air conditioned.

Stadium won't be indoor but you're right they'll be air conditionned using clean energy.
Qatar really is a good choice, it's the first time the World Cup is coming to the Middle East and it's a great occasion the bring the world together.
Qatar has everything they need to make one of the most amazing world cup, they'll construct some of the most beautilful stadium in the world and they'll bring technology to a new level. I'm excited.

.ive spent a lot of this year doing papers on Qatar and other middle eastern countries, although this makes the country look unbelievable which it is not, itll be better than you think..and european soccer fans will drink anywhere, thats just how it goes.

Oh really?  Because I'm pretty sure we have exactly one fuck-ton of people complaining about how they can't get workers permits here (because it's too competitive and expensive) and how they really want one.  I also live with Canadians, Spanish, Mexicans, Ghanaians, and French who would all strongly disagree.  Have you ever left Minnesota?

I was hoping Australia would get the bid, that would have been sick.  But whatever it'll be interesting to see how Qatar does, and if they fuck up, the US is the backup venue.  I'm curious to see how players feel about this.

They will likely loosen up the laws a bit during the WC similar to Utah during the Olympics. Still sucks though, would have been cool to see it come to the States, especially with Seattle in its sights.

Whoever said they are rich, they are only rich per capita. Their total gdp is only 83 billion compared to the 14 trillion of the US.

Also, they are a country of less than 1.5 million. And people were suggesting the US doesn't have the infrastructure for such an event (which is ridiculous), course maybe nobody will go because they don't want to die of heat stroke.

Now, define a nation that can host World Cup football in 12 years time. Yup, Qatar sounds like a choice for me.

As I've previously mentioned in this thread, I really don't give a shit about team sports at all. Seeing you go on a racist, fear-stricken Canadian "Eeeh" soccer fan agenda is more entertaining to me than the whole last World Cup.
