The main little resort that I've skied at for years is bankrupt and is going to court tomorrow to see if they can still open up. Kinda bumming...seeing that this is where I've learned to ski and got into park, and no other resorts very close to me. Vibes and luck needed for the court date.

Peek n Peak in Western New York. Holiday Valley is twice as far away. Hopefully someone will buy them out seeing they have their snow makers on...

is there a town really close to it? One option would be for the town to buy it... or make it into a co-op.
look into Shames Mountain by Terrace, BC. The hill is owned by a logging company, to insure the long lasting survival of the hill the town is looking into a town run co-op to take over the hill. I've always thought it would be a good idea for my ski hill to do the same, when the current owners go bankrupt of course.

Keep the faith!
Bolton Valley where I lived has gone bankrupt like 5ish times, yet the open every year. The only thing you can do is stay positive.

Thought I'd share what I heard.
Peek n Peak is opening this year but the owner did declare bankruptcy. If it does close, it will be in the summer after the ski season since that is where they make most of their money. Apparently the owner was fairly new and was really trying to renovate Peek but his plans fell through when he tried to build a casino near the resort similar to Holiday to compete but the supposed Indian land didn't exist where he was going to build. The casino was where he was going to make the money to improve Peek n Peak. Hopefully a new owner will step in.
Sparknotes: Peek n Peak will open this year, future is unknown.

It's sad when ski areas have to close down, high insurance rates are probably to blame.
