Custom Insole/Footbed

You are probably pronating in the boot causing pressure. customs are the shit and would help a lot. doesn't necessarily need to be cork, but they could be. i've had instaprints and conformables, both are rigid foam and plastic and they rocked

we make fully custom Conformable footbeds at my shop. i have them. they are the absolute shit

I recently got a pair of full tilt boots and they were pretty uncomfortable the first few days so I went out and got some custom footbeds.  They felt good in the store but when I put on the boots at the mountain (cold) my feet barely fit into them with the beds.  Even before I started skiing the footbeds were painful on my feet and I took them out after a few runs and it felt better.  I have never used footbeds in my boots before and I assumed they would help alot.  Can anyone offer me some advice, do I need to let my feet get used to the footbeds or maybe get them cut thinner??  It felt as if the beds were doing the opposite and causing more pressure/pain on my feet...

The lining probably needs to pack out a bit. Best advice: go to your local ski shop and address the problem. They'll likey know how to solve this.

Example: I pretty much had a staight line of pain across my arch, so I went to my local shop and they stretched the boot shell and now it's all better.

I definitely recommend Conformables, once they're heat molded, you'll have some really happy feet.

if you are in the correct size shell and have the correct footbed for your foot, you should not be tightly buckling your toe buckles. Let the footbed do the stabilizing work it is supposed to do. By tightly buckling your toe buckles, all you are doing is pushing your foot into the footbed and causing problems.

Footbeds are great, but the support they provide is something new to your foot. If you are not used to wearing a footbed, your foot will cramp out. The tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot (your plantar fascia band) needs to adapt to the new structure under it, and this will not feel good if you just go ski on it without wearing a bit first. It can be pretty painful actually. You need to put them into your street shoes for a bit, or at least wear your boots for 30 minutes each night so your foot can get used to the new support it has never had.

Plus, if your foot is cramping out that badly, it's a sign that you should have some kind of supportive footbed in your everyday shoes. That will also make wearing them in your ski boot feel normal and not painful.
