Line Blend vs. Icelantic Nomad

Well good evening NS! I need your help!

Here's my dilemma. I am getting a new pair of skis and have narrowed it down between 183cm Line Blends, and 181cm Icelantic Nomads.

I know these have some differences and I was wondering people's opinions on them.

I ski probably 60% on piste, 25% trees/powder, 15% park (if I am bored) I am from VT so some days, groomers and blue ice are all I have to ski on. I want something that will be able to hold an edge on the shitty days, and keep me floating and quick through the trees on days when it snows.

nomads..icelantic quality and durability is much better than anything k2 can produce

This is terrible news. Damn it. Will sign up from your sig link though.

I am 6'2" ~215lbs (+/- 5 holiday lbs)

I am leaning towards the Nomads, they seem bullet proof and can't really beat a 2 year warranty, but I have been partial to the Lines in my past. Anyone ski the regular Nomad and SFT and notice huge differences?

I skied some nomads when I was in colorado last season. I normally ski on regular chronics (85mm waist) in new jersey, so frozen granular and ice. The nomads turned great and held a good edge on groomed stuff, and they were fun in the small amount of softer snow I found. They have some pop too, and I was fine on them at high speeds. I think the flex was comparable to chronics, maybe a bit stiffer cause of the extra width? I'd feel fine with them on ice or crappy stuff, so my vote goes for nomads.

The only reason I am even considering the Blends at this point is because I get into a pair of them for ~$200 less than the Nomads because I have a friend who is a Line Rep.

I really dig the extra width on the Nomads and the fact they can hold their own on groomed/ice/EC shit, and the fact they have a 2 year warranty. But the $200 is a lot of money for a broke college kid, plus early rise...gah. I don't know what to do, and then I just remember I need bindings...

Being poor sucks.

Thanks for all your input guys, I'll let you know what I choose, haha.

So...fuck...I went to go get some Nomads, and they were all out of the 181's, so I checked out the Blends and played with the flex and whatnot, and now I am back to square one.

Has anyone ridden both of these? Or at least one of them? (10/11 Nomad or Blend)

I really don't know what to do. Early rise makes me excited, but I've heard the Nomads can hold their own in the fresh as well.

FUCK ME NS, pick my god damn skis for me.

While I haven't ridden the Blends, I know a few people who have who ride them hard and put them to the test in a lot of conditions, and I have heard zero complaints. Everything that I have seen/heard about the Blends has led me to believe that they are one of the best go anywhere, do anything skis out there. Also, I haven't heard of any issues in regards to durability. I can't speak for Icelantic one way or the other, but if you can get Blends for a good deal, I would pull the trigger. I would be surprised if you don't like them.

You're a heavy guy, I would shy away from the blends because they are very soft this year. Unless you want your skis to be extremely soft. I don't know much about the nomads; I doubt that they are softer then the blends.

Huh, I didn't realize it's gotten a lot softer. Sounds like the OP should try to get his hands on a pair and do some flexin'.

Yeah, I flexed a pair at the local shop and they seem pretty soft in the tip and tail. I know its supposed to be playful, but as someone put it, I'm kind of a big dude.~220 at my peak of bulking in winter, haha.

Going to pull the trigger on the Icelantic Nomads. Hopefully I'm happy with that, haha.
