Does halfpipe or slopestyle skiing belong in the Olympics?

so I was reading the new issue of powder mag and an interesting article stood out to me. It was about wondering if skiers belong in the halfpipe at the olympics. I would like to take this a step further and ask if slopestyle should be in the olympics? Give your opinion please?

well, you do jump on scaffolding in cities with people watching for money....not too far off from "circus clowns." i know many are going to take this the wrong way, but seriously, how much different is the circus compared to KOS? you may not jump through a "hoop," but you do jump for money, fame, and success. why else would you travel all around the world to hit those big air city comps? please answer, cuz if its not for money, fame, and success and just for freeskiing, i think YOU are in the wrong game.

yea those preseason jump comps are gay, all it is huck fest off like 40 foot jump with sketchy landing

I think it would be a really good way to have pros make the money they deserve, but it changes the sport completely.  Look at what happened to halfpipe snowboarding

With all due respect, I might be able to offer a perspective on that, based on personal experience.

As someone who has been a competitor in both the Olympics and the XGames, I have to say that while the XGames is a fantastic event, comparing it to the Olympics is kind of like comparing a light bulb to the sun.

T-Payne and Derek Taylor's halfpipe debate thats in the current issue of Powder will hit powder.com tomorrow morning. We rarely put the stories from the mag online but Trennon and DT are both cool with it. I'll post a link when it's live.

Yes, it should be... Both slope and Halfpipe. I don't really care because that's not the type of skiing I'm into but YES both deff should be in.

If you don't like the rules then stop competing, easy solution to me. All comps (Xgames and Olympics) need to have some form of rules that anyone can calim are bullshit... thats why i dont compete.

Ski halfpipe in the olympics? sure why not? I think everyone here is missing the point. Skiing is about you, its an individual endeavor, if you want to go to the olympics and ski pipe while doing it, why should the collective hive of NS/powder/freeskier/tgr tell you that you shouldn't go?

 Tell Tanner not to go, or at least try, doods jacked now- he'll probably rip your face off.

 Tell simon, or those french guys not to go, or anyone on the Canadian half pipe team not to go, and that it shouldnt be a part of the games because "freeskiing is core, we dont need no olympics" but every one on here will watch every second of it, pvr it and watch it over and over again, sharpen their edges and go get in a pipe.

 On the other hand, if you don't want to go do that, if you just want to go ski and enjoy all sorts of cool shit, then have atter. Go send all you want, but if you can and want to, support the guys and girls that do want to.

yeah, even if it does go in, ill be able to get my ass off the streets with the deaflympics. yeah you heard it right, deaflympics. whatever events the winter Olympics has, its in the deaflympics. the next deaflympics is in Slovakia this winter 2011, 2015 is in Vancouver, British Colombia.... so i stand and support the halfpipe skiing and slopestyle in the olympics. theres already a superpipe at blackcomb.
