Base Scratches

don't bother filing base scratches unless there pretty deep, and you will want to use p tex which you can get at you local ski shop for about 5$.

for top sheets epoxy will be fine.

Yeah my natural leading foot ski for rails and stuff is pretty beat under the boot..i'll have to pick some of that up. Is top sheet chips and base gashes normal for a ski i've used for only one season? mainly for park.

i normally just grind hella wax down in the crack when im waxing....too much.....and then melt it in and it turns out smooth after scraping, etc. i mean, it wears down, but if you wax your skis as much as i do it works pretty well

But if you have a core shot, I'de highly recommend getting that p-tec'ed!

I did this all last season on my Scratches until summer hit. Then I just filled in the deep gouges (no core-shots) with p-tec.

Any ski shop, or even a sports authority/dicks with an at least half decant ski/snowboard section should have P-tex. I prefer black p-tex because it really shows up on colored bases.

how do you go about applying ptex by the way?

you tube it for further instruction but what you do is take a ptex stick... you light it on fire... the tip sohuld be buring blue if it is burning yellow wait, next you should let it burn until in starts dripping then you layer the drips through out the scratch, just untill in has filled it and all of it, then you take a scraper just a skinny peice of metal with a flat edge and scrpae it do not force it or you will rip it out, when your done with that you can file it with about a foot long regular file, then i usualy continue to wax my ski and the rest of it, this is just how i do it there are some great u tube videos on how to use them but its pretty easy and way cheaper then paying some one else to do it. for all the tools to do it its about 20 25 dollars.
