Replying to Lap top

So im finally in the market for my own editijng whip.  I got a 1,000 limit, will be running permier, using xh a1 and maybe some t2i footage.  Not that worried about internal HDD space because my brother is giving me his 2 tb external. Everyone I know now has mac so they can't give me a really good answer.  It has to be a laptop because im traveling and taking all my classes online, otherwise id be looking at desktops.
