I'm looking to get some skins for my 185 Armada JJ's for this year. Never had a pair, I was just wondering what you guys could tell me and if it would be worth it. I will be doing a fair amount of hiking this year, in Colorado. Places such as East Vail, Breck, Bertha Pass, etc. Any comments, help, or suggestions would be awesome. Thanks.
i HIGHLY recommend you take an avalanche class, or at the VERY least go with someone who knows their shit. From the looks of it you live in CO, our snowpack is very unstable and we have the most avalanche deaths if any state every year. It is dangerous and you can get seriously hurt or killed even if you know what you are doing
Do you have some sort of touring setup? tele, trekkers, AT, etc...
that's what I use. If were you, I'd get the 125mm skins. Save some money and weight and less excess material to cut off. You should be fine with the regular tip loop because of the tapered tips on the JJs.
