What a fucking psycho...holy crap. I absolutely love how this is about "pulling 3 cards" and lying, rather than the real issue at hand of WHY he got these cards(?) in the first place and how we can change outcome. That lady isn't parenting timmi, she's on a fucking power trip with an innocent kid. I couldn't even watch the shower part. That is fucking disgusting.

I'm with you. I'm certain it's in a kids fiber to lie to their parents. I sucked at it so I never got away with it. But I mean your morals haven't developed yet, all a kid would realize is that he has the possibility of not getting in trouble.

from what I remember of childhood, anyway.

I'm sorry, did him no harm? There was plenty harm in that video. Putting hot sauce in your kids mouth for lying (which is completely natural in being a kid, come on) and a cold shower is beyond fucked up.

She isn't teaching him anything. She is no educator. He didn't learn anything except "lying is bad". He didn't learn how to change what happened at school to avoid the bad turn out. She is not instilling any good thought or action into that child. She's power hungry, she's not about being a mom.

I remember being a kid and I couldn't drink pepsi because it was too harsh. kids mouths are sensitive. I can't imagine hot sauce when I was a kid.

that and cold water? fuck thats some psychological punishment.

I was spanked too, and it hurt a little but I'm sure they weren't actually hitting me hard. The punishment was more waiting for them to smack me.

im sure when he grows up he will be a tough mother fucker, then he will realize his mom is old and smaller than him and he will be the one making her take cold showers. in a way i guess it makes him stronger as a person. but that is a little much

Kids have bigger emotions than you know.

And...you're missing the point. She is teaching him that lying to HER is bad and what happens when he does. She is not teaching him how to deal with things at school because she didn't even touch on the subject. She wasn't teaching him problem solving. Please point out to me in the video where she did those things. And for my sake, what the hell is that supposed to mean?

That was so out of line. The kid was like 5 or 6, of course he's gonna lie and get into trouble thats exactly what kids do, especially boys.

While it may not have done any real physical harm to the boy you know its gonna hurt him emotionally and psychologically. I feel that when i become a dad, and frankly i can't wait, i want to build a strong relationship with my kids and this is not the way to do it. If you treat your kids like that i feel they won't want to be friends with you and probably tell you even less about what is happening in their lives.

thats just personal opinion though

I dunno dude, my parents didn't do that to me when I was 5. I got the shit spanked out of me and a bar of soap occasionally when I said a bad word, but what that lady did for that kind of situation is kinda brutal. Theres a thin line between teaching a kid a lesson and child abuse, and that definitely crosses it.

You're right, I read it wrong. But do you really think that a mother who reacts like that is really concerned with helping her son understand? And sure problem solving is natural in some cases, but its called raising your children for a reason. You guide them and help them understand what's going on around them, while letting them grown into their own. No control them. She, is straight fucked.

Youre absolutely right in that both methods of punishment are just as bad. I was trying to make a point of the mother overreacting over something like that. The MOST I got for getting in trouble at school was a firm talking to and being sent to my room for the night. Spankings happened rarely and didn't last too long. 10 smacks with the belt at most, which is bearable. But its not the punishment so much as it is the reaction to something so trivial as getting into a little bit of trouble at school and lying about it. We've all done that.

At first I felt absolutely horrible for the kid, and still do to an extent. Then I thought about how I used to have to kneel on rice for an hour, and let me tell you that shit sucked but I'm okay now!

By giving cold showers when he gets cards she is giving him incentive to lie to her. Kids are hyper, crazy, and don't listen sometimes, that is why this kid got "cards". But instead of talking to her so and explaining to him that he needs to control his energy sometimes and let it out other times, she simply says if you get a card a school you will be given a cold shower. So the causes for the bad behavior are not addressed, so he is bad at school then scared as fuck of his parents, this is what makes him lie to his parents. He is so afraid of her and of a cold shower that he cannot think or cope with telling his mom he got in trouble. This kind of parenting ruins the child-parent bond. How can you live and love someone if you fear them? You can't. This kid is going to lie to his parents for the rest of his life, because I bet if he got caught drinking or anything in highschool and his parents found out he would be exiled from the family.

I think what might be making this video a lot worse is that she is so angry.
I mean, a punishment is a punishment. This is what you did, this is the consequence. but when you are screaming at your kid instead of being stern and making them realize what they've done it seems like a problem.
