I need help with waxing supplies +K for all help

So this year i have decided to wax my own skis instead of paying for my shop to do it. The only problem is that i have no idea what i need. I don't need any fancy stuff and probably just two types of wax. I need an iron, brushes, scrapers and wax. Can you guys give me a list of what you personally use or lead me in the right direction? I ski at Crystal Mountain in Washington if that would help. +K for help.

Dakine Iron (which was $40)
Dakine all temp wax
Swix plastic scraper
Swix brush (half and half of different materials)

thats all i ever use and it works perfect

Also get a fibertex pad (one of those green things from the kitchen) and use that after you brush in, then after get a rag and buff it a bit. also a gummi stone really helps with rust

Y would u use a wire brush? I would get the swix economy iron 50 the swix hoarse hair brush15 and the blue nylon brush 15 then just get some toko all temp wax. U might need a vise to hold them in place wile u do it. I would recommend either the swix standard ski vise or a toko vise make sure to get a good vise because it will make things much easier, watch the sticky that is called the official ski binding and maintenance thread it has a very informational video

brass is good to clean out the bases, horse hair is more of a raceday finishing sort of brush, at least for me

Well an important question to ask is what kind if skiing do u do? Do u race or do u do freestyle? What kind of skis do u have and what bases?

Also a thick rubber band is really handy for your brakes. You can get away with a walmart iron if you don't let it get too hat.

I have: Burton hot stick iron, toko nylon brush, swix scraper, swix cork, toko all-temp wax, and some base cleaner that I never use. You also might as well pick up some p-tex sticks if your going to be doing your own repairs.

dont listen to that, you need to get a ski waxing iron because it keeps it at a constant temperature, I have an svst iron that was pretty cheap, I would say you need a steel brush and a horsehair brush, a good scraper, swix universal will work pretty well too. If your going to tune yourself, you need a bevel a file and a diamond stone.

Obviously its not the best thing, but it works fine. If you stick with it I would eventually buy a real wax iron.

Also, just use universal wax if you don't want to spend a lot of money on wax.

Vices, iron, wax, nylon brush, horsehair brush, fibertex pad (not to be confused with the really brittle kitchen ones) and a sort of rag to finish.

You don't really need a brass brush, they're really pricey and are really only for cleaning the base out. And if you're not careful about using them properly they could fuck the structure in your skis.

all in all about 10 bucks, its all i use and im one of the fastest on the hill, definatley fastest of my friends

i have 2009 anthems, and i crayon on oneballjay cold fluoro-free wax (blue puck-shaped). then take a heat gun, melt it in to the bases. then scrape off the excess with a plexi scraper, and then texturize with a scotch pad or toothbrush. works like a charm, and i ski at crystal, stevens, snoqualmie, baker, batchelor, mission ridge, etc.
