That's because it was held in South Africa, which, like the USA, Canada, and Australia, calls it soccer much of the time...
The name never changed... The sport was never called soccer first - it was always football. Look at the football codes that rose out during the 19th century. You wont find ONE that has 'soccer' in the name. There is no 'S' in FIFA. There is no 'S' in FA, there is no club in england that I know of that is called "-random city- SOCCER club... it's either Athletic Club, or Football Club, or something of that sort.
There are only a few places in the world where Association Football is known as soccer... and they are all places where another form of football code (American Football, Canadian football, Aussie Rules, or in South Africa, they use "Soccer" just as often as "Football" depending on where in the country you are...) that is either more popular, or just as popular as Football. Even Kiwis for the most part call it Football...
Learn how to spell stadium by the way. You misspelled that shit TWICE. I normally wouldnt call you out on that, but thats pretty awful... You just wrecked yourself yo.
