CHARLTON — An 18-year-old Charlton man has been arrested after police say he fired a crossbow into a car with teens inside.

Charlton Police Sgt. Daniel Dowd said Paul Edwards was arrested Friday following a two-hour search that involved police dogs from the Southbridge police and the Massachusetts State Police.

Police say the arrow went through the car window, but no one was seriously hurt. Broken glass cut a 16-year-old in the front seat.


Dowd said Edwards and the victims were acquainted.

Edwards’ father told WHDH-TV that said police told him it was a drug deal gone wrong.

Edwards was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. It was unclear if he had hired an attorney.

How are they stealth? They are huge and fairly easy to spot and don't fire off rounds very quick.............soo I don't know. And no one died so you aren't guaranteed anything.

They don't make a loud BOOM like a gunshot. That's how they are stealth, and the dude probably had it in his car, not just out in the open. AND if you could not sense the sarcasm in my remark, I suggest you go and take 5th grade reading class again.

lol at people who argue about the stealth of a crossbow who have never shot a cross bow.
ive shot bows ranging from old school longbows to twin cam composite bows that are pimped the fuck out. ive also shot a couple crossbows and youd be surprised at how much noise those fuckers make not nearly as loud as a rifle but still not negligible.

Actually, thats a great idea. Its just as effective as a gun (as far as intimidation and killability goes), and if you get caught with a cross bow versus a gun, the gun will get you in WAY more trouble. Whereas the crossbow is only a "dangerous weapon" not a "Deadly weapon". That could knock off a ton of prison time.
