Can someone explain to me why the music industry sucks so much?

what the fuck is wrong now a days. how can these kids keep on producing such shitty music over and over again?

beibers the most successful of this new wave of teen entertainers. what happened to true artists anymore? how can these people put out records and get fucking music videos all the time when its soooooo hard for an actual artist and musician to get anywhere in the music business?

i just want good music to be mainstream but i feel like that will never be the case for now on since they found that this music and gaga and kesha and all this shit is such a huge hit at school dances and 12 year old girls

For the record that's some of the illest music ever made. You just don't get it. It's the hip and in. Maybe you're just stuck in the past or somethin. Get with the program man. The new is the in, and the music is bumpin freedom. So rage it and have fun. All my homies in the club dancin and havin a good time. I think it's because there are a lot of people who don't really think about music as anything more than a catchy tune to play in the background of whatever they do. This pop music is mindless and appeals to a huge range of people.

Anyone who truly invests some thought in music will find their niche somewhere, and since there are so many different genres and sub-genres all with equal talent and all making "real music", none of these will ever get attention from more than a smaller group of people. Everyone's different, and music reflects who people are, so if you're into a specific style, chances are it will never become "mainstream". It will never make much money because it's not worth the music labels' effort to promote to the degree that they do for these pop stars. Real musicians won't stop though, and will keep making music regardless of the money it makes them. It's just the way the music industry is, and I don't see it changing any time soon.

Its mostly because of the records that the sign with.
Most of the mainstream music that you hear is from the same Record Company (Young Money, Capital Records, etc.), which already have well established artists.
The people that those companies then sign, are the ones who are promoted the most. The parents of kids like the Jonas Bros., Justin Beiber, and those two scrawny kids OP posted, just appeal to the record companies, and then the companies sign the kids and shape them into what they want.

Theres good music out there that is being promoted, so when the companies decide to stop selling out to what they think people want to hear, then better music will go mainstream.

greats posts. now im only 17 and have fairly good views of music and past music as well..were these kind of pop stars or some form of them taking over like it is now bt back in like 60s-90s? or were the beatles, stones, zeppelin, dead, black sabbath, nirvana, pumpkins the mainstream?

Young Money is a big record company? its an imprint of an imprint of an imprint. most artists (over 3/4) come from four labels, UMG, EMI, Sony, and Warner.
Frankly, I love the way the music industry is working right now. the big four lose more and more market share every day, and independent labels, and self-publishing artists are making moves with both traditional and novel distribution concepts. People like Justin Beiber and Soulja Boy, and someone like Pretty Lights, (none of whom I personally cannot stand musically), I respect on a huge level marketing-wise, because they used new mediums to expose their music, and got signed that way, instead of the dying method of moving to LA and giving BJs to Record execs until one sees that you can be marketable.

Today, more artists are being discovered based solely on their own talent and ability to market, taking money that is rightfully theirs' away from the middlemen and record execs.

granted, a few of those artists are still scooped up by A&R of the big 4, but now they are being found all over the place. take the aforementioned Bieber and Soulja Boy examples. do you think either of them would be famous right now if it wasn't for things like Youtube, or more recently, Soundcloud?

honestly i could see women being into the op vid kids or bieber more than some of the thugs out there. ya he looks like a puss but thats what most popular white males seem to be because they get hated on if they try to act thug. also im pretty sure most women enjoy listening to lyrics to get them pumped at a party or about relationships/ love instead of fuking ni**as up and making it rain. maybe that doesn't make sense, but oh well.
