All my shit got stolen. buying advice

so im deployed right now and i just found out that my van got broken into back in the states, all the windows got busted out and they stole everything inside. unfortunately i had put all of my ski gear in the van hoping to keep it safe while i was gone. that didn't work. i wasn't able to get any skiing done last year so im really out of the loop when it comes to all the new stuff thats some out so im looking for some ideas on what stuff to buy, i need everything. i had ARV's and loved every second of them but im kind of leaning towards trying out a rockered ski. i ski mostly park but im all over the mountain and get in the pow sometimes. looking for something pretty soft and not too narrow underfoot like the ARV's were. I had the SPK boots and loved those too. 5'5 145lbs. like i said im deployed right now and my resources are limited so any input would be greatly appreciated. im looking to buy soon cuz were looking at being back in the states sometime in january and i want it there waiting for me. thanks guys

i own them and they are the funnest ski i have ever used. they are not unstable. nice flex, i used them in knee deep powder, they were nice and floaty. super fun on rails. super good for butters.

It's honestly just a very good product. If anyone who has never rode them gets a chance, they should defently give them a try. Personally, I plan to buy from them again.

Clearly we should all listen to this muhammad whatever guy telling us to buy American skis, which are actually made in China. Something doesn't add up.

But to the OP On3p is a great company and i love my Blue steeles. The rocker will change your life! The company has great customer service and all the guys are really friendly. You will not be sorry!

cause the retail is spendy as fuck,,,, maybe if the guys at on3p demo some gear it might make spending 600 on just sticks seem worth it.

10 bucks is a slap in the face for consumers but i get it from a business standpoint.

let me retract that slap in the face bit. 10 is better than zero. to the op...stay safe and come home and get some good boots and then demo skis..... a good setup starts at the boots, i my slef have wanted to try out the on3p skis.. being that i live in portland and there "local" if anyone knows where they can be tried out.it would be helpful but i have never been a fan of the rocker,, but then again the only rocker ski i have rode was the old spatulas. i just bought me a pair of scratch stz for 270 dollars and they are in damn good shape. with bindings(Salomon though) i guess people are really into there skis and forget that the rider not the skis that counts.

You can go to the factory and pick up a pair of demo skis.

Just give them a call. I am sure you can work something out.

I appreciate all the input and the support guys, not so much all the hate but it happens.

to try and answer all the questions i ski both east and west. when i get a chance to go to maine where i really call home then i ski east but thats only for a week or 2 at most. other than that im skiing out west at bear or snow summit.

my spks were 25.5, and i understand that boots are a very sensitive subject and they are all about how they fit you personally. im just trying to get a feel on which boots people are liking these days. when i bought my spks they were all the hype and i ended up loving them.

as far as demoing, i dont really have that many options. i wont be back in the states untill mid july and i wanna jump right into it.

the ON3P's look amazing and ive heard alot of good things from what seem to be legit sources, most of the hate on them seems like its coming from unreliable sources(not to hate on anyone). how soft are they? they are pricy but it seems like most the skis ive been looking into are around that price range.

the kung fujas seem like they might be a little too fat for east coast groomers?

ive looked at a couple others that i havent heard anything about. armada halo's? k2 revivals?
and i havent heard anything about bindings?

As far as boots go most people will say Full tilts. It's really all preference. Pick one, Try a couple out. If you get a chance to demo take it. But boots are a hard choice.

As far as On3p flex goes, it can be anywhere, I had them custom make my pair to be pretty soft cause i like a buttery ski, just contact them when you order your ski and ask for a stiff, soft, medium or whatever ski. I also know that this years skis are way lighter due to new core profiling etc. So that's a plus.

one ski i would recommend is the K2 revival. they have a little reverse camber but are a park ski. they are also really stable. i have also heard great things about on3p but i know some people who have gotten lemon skis. they broke on the second day. the core snapped on the tip of one ski and the tail of the other. just be careful how you ski on those a bit if you get them. just make sure they dont break before you blast jumps

Honestly, I would just go to your local ski shop and find the least expensive pair of park skis you can get.  The quality of the ski is trivial in comparison to making sure you get a good fitting boot.

Also, somebody was complaining about Salomon bindings.  I don't know where they are getting their info, but my Salomon bindings never broke once last year whereas my Marker bindings broke 5 times.  My experience is that Salomon bindings are fairly durable.

Right now the "hot" boot are Full tilts. but if you love your SPKs, I would recommend them.

If you really are representing ON3P I think you should reconsider your intolerant statement and grow up.

I know ON3P are a really sick company, had personal experience with their customer support, however I can't get a pair as they don't sell them in europe/can't afford the import taxes. Boo!

So either ON3P jermos or my current skis, the armada jjs. Good luck!

They're prices were a steal during the presale.  You pay for what you get.  I'm going to go ahead and tell you that whatever ski you're buying, until it's from other top ski companies that hand-make their skis, then they will not be more durable.  And those other top companies that hand-make their skis are just as or even more expensive.

Just find something inexpensive.  I've found that durability doesn't vary to significantly with price (to a certain extent).  If you can find something good for $250-350, I would jump on it.  Skis don't become bulletproof just because they are handmade; they are still subject to normal wear and tear.

Didn't read through this thread too much but whomever said on3ps suck is right. Fujas isn't bad if you want a cheap rockered ski similar to the arv, but if you really mainly ski park I would say get something that is like 85ish at the waist. Suspects are good, and the ace of spades too (I like stiff skis), but for a cheap park ski maybe look at coreupt, I've never ridden them but they definitely have decent prices and I think they might still use some of dynastars designs/tech (not sure) which is sick.

Are you talking to me? I don't like on3p because I had a pair that started delaminating on the third day, I've never seen skis fall apart so fast. If I hadn't gotten them for next to nothing I would have been incredibly pissed (I was just moderately angry as a result). And on top of that I didn't like them in the short time before they delaminated. So there are my facts, I'm just speaking from experience. I don't know anything about how on3ps are made, but sometimes I feel like these little startups don't have the shit (i.e. good ski presses and years of r&d) to make quality skis. Hopefully they have gotten better in the last two years but I would never buy them again.

I think we need to clear some bull first. We had to warranty skis last year, as did every ski company last year. Our blem rate was lower than what we expected, but I know that still means we have customers out there that bought and were dissatisfied. Besides that fact, we make a certain type of ski with a specific kind of flex and construction, it would be crazy for anyone to assume that one company can make a lineup of skis that can satisfy every type and persuasion of skier. If you are one of the few that ended up not liking our product, I'm sorry it didnt work out and I hope you found a pair of sticks that you like.

What I should do is just delete every reply and let the OP start over in a fresh thread. And to the hater, Muhammad, whoever you are, if you owned a pair of our skis last year, I'll believe it when you tell me where the serial number was located on the ski. That is, reply if you havent been dealt with already, we really dont like your attempts to break into other peoples accounts and all the aliases you've been running.

Just curious but what skis did you have? Sorry to hear you didn't like them, but just not realistic to hope that everyone will like our skis. But was curious what you had and how you got a pair for "next to nothing" when the skis (assuming based upon your description) were new - with the skis then delaminated on the 3rd day....

As for them breaking....We've warrantied under 10 pairs of skis, total. In our entire history (which, admittedly, is not very long as we've only been a company offering skis to the public now for about 15 months). Skis break and we are certainly not immune to this, but our warranty rate is pretty small so we don't see skis breaking often.


As for Muhammad, not sure what we did to piss him off. Not sure if it is a mod thing or an ON3P thing, but he really doesn't like us.

Muhammad = Gnarcoma & Wolvmatt & Wolvmatt. & wolverinedawg24 and a number of other aliases. He's also been sending us emails and such. We're still small enough that I know or can remember most everyone who have bought our skis, especially amongst NS members, and he is certainly not one of them.

So he can keep hating all he wants. He's just trolling, so no skin off our back.

We still have many people skiing on prototypes. David Steele is still skiing on his 191cm Wrenegade prototypes and he has to have well over 100 days on them and they are still going. And David doesn't pussyfoot around either. Kip is still skiing on his 191cm Caylor protos too. Rowen has his, I have all of mine. All still going strong.
