SEC teams have tons of history and have huge programs because A: money, and B: there's damn near nothing else to do when you live in the sweltering, flat-ass southeastern USA. (or in some cases like Tennessee, and Georgia, NEAR the "mountains" LOL)
Go back to last year. Alabama's OOC was fucking ridiculous. San Jose State... they've had ONE good year in the last like 20... then they had TWO games against FCS schools if i'm not mistaken. That's fucking PUSSY.
Guess who played them in the conf. championship game? That other team that's notorious for its pussy scheduling. Florida - who never plays a decent team outside the swamp unless it's SEC, or Florida St or Miami, I guess... and Florida state is garbage these days anyway lol. Miami is pretty overrated too...
Tennessee gets my respect. They go and play Pac 10 teams. GOOD ones like Cal and Oregon - Not just Washington State, or one of the Arizona schools, who are pretty notorious for being middle of the road... They'd probably go up against U$C too if U$C didnt just schedule its bigger OOC games against Big 11 and big 12 schools.
the WAC isn't my conference... I just have a lot of respect for the teams that come from it... Do they have huge traditions or anything? No... but many of them have either been in the Wac for YEARS, or they have come from D1AA within the last 15 years.... (Idaho, Boise St, etc) Wac schools dont make that much money, and yet they still show up and typically beat schools from Pac 10, Big 12, and their abusive big Brother (MWC)'s schools...
You know those trick plays Boise usually does? That shit's ALWAYS happening in Wac games (they call it the wacky wac for a reason). Look at Nevada's crazy ass pistol offense? BYU practically invented the Spread in 1980 when they were still in the WAC, and Hawaii developed the SUPER SPREAD over the last 7 or 8 years (Tommy Chang and Colt Brennan had a STUPID amount of guys to throw at - That's why they set huge records). Conference USA schools that have been in the WAC at times in the past have even blown up and become huge schools for talent (TCU? Houston? ringing bells?)
Utah was a Wac school for years. Now theyre a pac 12 school... mostly because they havent lost to a Pac10 team in years, and developed a huge reputation (where'd Urban Meyer come from, anyway?)
These crazy offenses would NEVER happen in the SEC or Big 12... least until they play, and get BEAT by a WAC team with these offenses... That's why I have so much respect for the conference that was the WAC. It will be sad to see it die, if it does...
