Standards for being able to create a thread

I think there should be some kind of standard you have to meet before you can create a thread, like 1000 karma, or 100 posts, something. There have been so many retarded troll threads lately and I think this would help them to dissipate. Thoughts?


I know this probably falls more under site discussion, but it will be seen by 10000x more people in NSG.

I think a minimum 25 posts or so should be required before being able to create a thread. 100 can be too much if people don't post that often.

possibly, but if the minimum for thread creation was like 100 or 200 posts then people would just give up (hopefully.) They would still be able to participate in other stuff on the site though.

Any thread that someone under 100 posts would create could probably work as a response in a preexisting thread. The minimum-post requirement would just eliminate spam and trolls.. I don't see why it would exclude anybody.

ok, then maybe it should be something like you have to have either 100 posts or 1000 karma, and obviously you can make the orange names exempt... its to stop trolls, obviously if their name's orange they aren't going to post something retarded.

idk what the best standards would be, so if anyone has any ideas post em.

definitely should not be by posts but by a period of time after joining the site.
post whoring would not be encouraged and aliases couldnt be made and be making threads instantly
have a period of a few months where you arent allowed to post (or at least not be allowed to make threads) and we might be able to alleviate some of the problem

okay i dont know why but im going to explain why this is a stupid idea.

this forum is primarily for getting information about the skiing world. if a new person finds this site during their search for the answer to a question they need answered and find out they can't make a thread until theyve done some other stupid shit, theyre going to say "this site is fucking dumb" and theyre gonna be right

just because you guys want some sort of stupidass hierarchy doesnt mean people with legit questions shouldnt be able to ask them, that's a great way to make a legit website really fuckin lame really quick

furthermore, if there's a number of posts you need before making a thread, theyre going to "post whore" to get there obviously and that will only get your panties even more in a bunch

just drop it. it's a bad idea, all of you just need to relax and stop worrying about inconsequential shit like this
