Marker Griffon Problem (Go Figure)

So i was just getting ready for the upcoming season here in PA...I was riding my cousins backyard setup after we chowed on some major turkey...

I ended up tearing out the whole break plate some how which i found out later the screws actually got yanked out of the plastic that they screwed in to, thus stripping the holes where the screws go in to. Since it is the whole brake plate that the screws held in and was actually the part that your boot sits on and absolutely needs that peice to work, what am i supposed to do? Am i screwed or what?

Also, the part that they screws goes in to is part of the whole heel so its not like i can just replace that peice, it would have to be a whole heel.

What am i supposed to do ns?

(to my defense im only 125 pounds and never thought in my wildest dreams that i could break griffons. Unfortunately i was wrong...)

well at least from my bindings. the brake plate only screws into the heel piece.and its steel, but if your saying yours goes into the ski idk what to tell you. is it the heel piece screws or are you sure its the brake plate screws?

My screws that hold in the brake plate go in the heal which is plastic. It is the brake plate screws.

i could take some pics if that would help

if its striped im preaty sure theres a drill bit or something at home depot that creates threads for the screw. um  if u look online u can buy brakes but if its the heel piece that has the strip u might have to take them into willi's.

first thing i would do is contact whoever you bought it from and get refunded/get new bindings.

and if the screw hole (in the ski right?) is stripped and you can screw into it anymore, you could try buying some quiver killers. i don't know anything about them, but they seem like a genius idea to me and i have no problem recommending them

i did the same excat thing. i sent them back and marker only replaced that part. kinda sucks

worst case scenario is that you need to buy a new heel tray, so it sounds like... without seeing your setup, I have doubts that you are fucked.

This thread is so full of dumb it's unbelievable. The screws that hold the brakes on screw into the base of the binding, not the ski. The base of the binding is plastic, so those holes are stripped, absolutely nothing to do with the screws holding the binding onto the ski, his skis are fine.

I would suggest contacting Marker. That is probably your best bet. I don't think putting glue in the holes would hold the screws in, but if these are crappy old skis and the bindings are in rough shape anyway, it may not be a bad temporary fix. You could also try putting a dab of epoxy in the holes then screwing the brakes back on. you could also try to find screws that are bigger an the same length.

thank you very much for clearing that up for me, i didnt really know how to put it into simple terms

issue is these bindings are going to be taken off and put on my on3p blue steeles when they come in, so im really not sure what i should do. Also, you have to take the breaks off when you mount it, so its not like i could just epoxy them in...unless ill just leave them on forever

No problem for clearing it up haha.

And now I see your problem is even worse that you were planning on re-using the bindings. I don't think you have to remove the brakes to mount the bindings, the heel piece just slides onto the part that screws into the ski, and so does the brake, but I am not positive on them having to be removed or not for mounting.

well the screws to mount the heal plate are below the brake plate. I thought you would, but maybe im confused...im almost 100% sure though that you have to slide off the brake plate

I had to get my griffons replaced because of a swivel bar issue, and it took them a month, but they did it, and it worked.  Not great service, but they did what I wanted and now I have been skiing on them for a year.
