Help: need a wide angle lens for JVC Everio video camera

Hey, tried searching forums and found nothing. I have a cheap ass JVC Everio GZ MG330 with a 30.5mm filter thread ( http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/jvc-everio-gz-mg330/4505-6500_7-32858008.html ), and want to do some basic ski filming.
I think a mild wide angle lens is common but I can't find examples online. The lens found are .65 to .18, It seems like maybe .5 is pretty common? Is this relatively mild? Anyone have any links to a good online retailer? Anyone have any examples of shots from different wide angle lens?
Also, to add a UV filter would I get a 30.5mm filter and add the lens on to the filter OR get a 46mm filter and add it on to the lens? Anyone have any opinions on lens hoods using a .5 wide angle lens?
Cheers y'all.

but really not being a dick, wide angles are pretty common. i think like .5 to .66 are pretty common. look around at almost anyones videos on here, a lot of them are wide angle. it basically just makes you able to see more stuff haha. obviously you get what you pay for and cheaper wide angles can have distortion and stuff at the edges. if you get a uv filter get one to put on just the wide angle - not between it and your camera. the UV filter will basically just protect your lens. i dont really think you need a lens hood but idk... if the wide angle you buy comes with one then go ahead. i dont think its worth going out of your way to buy one.
