I would love to see a progression towards seeing multiple hits in segments in which the rider just keeps riding a line, and is able to hit multiple features in succession. I have always had more respect for skaters who produce segments with longer lines, and after my buddy showed me a RIDICULOUS line by Torstein Horgmo, I thought, why can't skiing produce the same stuff...
I understand that not all resorts have the capability to produce sick continous lines, but even a jump-to-rail-to-jump would be dope to see in a full-length ski movie, or even edits.

its just really fun to watch. i can't tell whats more impressive, his snowboarding or the park. i wish i had a park that would take 3:30 to get from top to bottom

I think Wallisch's 8 variations is more boring than Horgmo's, because Wallisch threw the same trick, albeit with slight variations. I didn't find Horgmo's boring in the slightest because I was always wondering if he was going to fall or not, which made me anticipate each hit more and more.

I think the more tricks a skier can put together in a run makes him or her more legit, because of the consistency. It's almost like watching a run at Dew Tour or X Games...the winning skier doesn't fall, and generally sticks all the tricks flawlessly.

I want to see something like this from a skier, too. Also, I knew the n* park was good but I did not ever dream it was that long...maybe one day if the snow really, really, really sucks everywhere, I'll go there.

That was pretty sick, but it gets me awfully pissed off when you're waiting to hit a jump line along with like 15 other people and this dickwad comes hauling through cutting everyone off including someone who is dropping in to the jump and is about halfway to the jump just because some dude is filming him so he thinks its tight.

National Ski Patrol Responsibility Code

  • Always stay in control, and be able to stop or avoid other people or objects.
  • People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
  • You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
  • Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
  • Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
  • Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  • Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.

check out bullet number 4. If you are stopped waiting to hit a jump, the uphill skier has the right of way.

it gets me awfully pissed off when there's a huge line at the top of jumps where people sit there for 25 minutes watching other people go and stand in your way so you can't go while they're all taking so long to sack up.

can you read?

bullet number one pertains to when both riders are moving downhill.
bullet four starts with "whenever starting downhill or merging"

so in park situations, when you are stopped looking at a feature, YOU have to look uphill before you drop. most everypark i know of is meant to have flow from feature to feature which requires skiers that are stopped or merging to be aware of what is going on around them.

They did a little bit of this in 44 Days but it was only ever a few consecutive hits. It was nice because they sped up the transition between jumps.

Also, I think it's nice in videos when they speed up the "lag"-time between features

You're missing the point. I'm talking about when people are already dropping in, and moving towards the feature. Just a little bit slower than someone else and someone comes in from the side and completely cuts him off forcing him to stop and hike back up.

trust me, its not just a local problem. it happens EVERYwhere.

bottom line is, look uphill before you drop. someone that is cruising through the whole park shouldnt have to stop just becuase kids are stopping before features and then failing to look uphill before they drop.    if you find that people are passing you on the inrun often, there is probably a good reason why they are going faster...   but as long as you check before you drop, you shouldnt ever have a problem with being snaked.

Only true for single lines. If you switch lines (let's say from kicker to rail line), it's you who's gotta check.

however if the park is crowded and everybody has to wait in line for a feature (ie. on summer glaciers) its just plain dicking around if you feel superior and just link the whole park and snake every line, especially if the people are calling their runs by lifting their hand or pole before dropping in..

so basic line is, call runs and respect runs being called, but don't be upset if someone snakes a line when nobody is calling the drop in ...

^^just my opinion tough ...



and that being said, this was an awesome run, very entertaining knowing there was no background music and no fancy editing :)

and i didn't see him skipping any real lines, so no probs, and even if he was, if it's for a shoot i wouldn't even mind if they snake ...
