Revival vs. ar7

kay heres the deal. at my home town i ski 100% park but i go to the mountains about 4 or 5 times a year where do about 80% in powder, cliffs etc. and park about 20%. i dont care about the width underfoot. im a little skeptical about the zero camber/jib rocker. what should i get? thanks!

i like jumps best. nothing over 50 feet. rails and boxes are good. i prolly go like 60 jumps/ 40 rails. never pipe or anything

yeah for pow the revival would be the best due to rocker 90mm waist. the ar7 would be okay and since they are wider this year they woudlnt do as well but they can handle it. they are both very durable skis, but definitely any all mountain i would sick with the ar7 cause k2s are heavier, and camber underfoot is always a good feeling.

they changed the construction of the k2's this year so they're not gonna be as heavy as they were in the past.

it  definitely skis a little bit differently than a traditional cambered ski, but if you know how to ski, it's really not an issue. i was ripping groomers at killy last week on my domains, and once you get used to the fact that you don't 'pop' out of a turn quite like you do with a cambered ski, they still skied fairly well on groomers. and rocker makes nose butters stupidly easy.

Revivals are the shit.  AR7's wouldn't be a bad choice as well though.  I've been rippin on some Revivals for a few days now and cant say enough about them.  They ollie/nollie like crazy, charge hard (triaxial braiding) for park skis, and are a super fun ski overall.  I would highly recommend them, however the AR7's I would imagine are dope as hell as well.

ok thanks guys. ill think about it i guess. also are revivals to soft to really charge in the mountains? like off cliffs and down steeps w/ pow etc?

hey, I was in the same position as you but I searchbared and decided to go with the revivals due to their amazing reviews by everyone. I now have them (not skied them yet because my country doesnt have snow for shit) but when I flexed them they definately felt like a medium to stiff flex and ive read that in alot of places too. They should do great in the all mountain like pow, pistes etc.

I've spent a few full days on them outside of the park and they plow through just about anything.  Really fun all-mountain ski.  I hit a few smaller cliffs on them, and skied a day with about 6-8 inches of new and they were wide enough to handle it.  To me the dimensions, camber, and stiffness were are in line with what I was looking for out of a park/all mountain mix, and given K2's proven great durability- I'm sure these will last a while.

thanks for the info! despite all the love for the revivals im leaning towards the ar7's because i was at my local shop and they're incredibly light! also i barely notice the difference in width underfoot. i mean its only 0.7mm difference

The revival would be perfect for you man. At 90 underfoot it will kill it when you go into some deeper snow especially with the jib rocker that it has. It is also an awesome park ski. I am by no means saying that the AR7 is not but for what you need the Revival will be amazing!

Buy it and get stoked for you will have lots of fun.

^^ actually can i ask you if you noticed the lack of camber? like sometimes i really like to rip down steeps or even groomers and the zero camber worries me. thanks

Anyone ski Revivals that was on Extremes before seems like the same ski -rocker? Is that correct or am I way off?

WAY off. Ski is fully engineered from the ground up to be brand new. Sidecut is bi-directional, meaning almost symmetrical. We designed all new top tooling on all the new factory team skis to have a dual roll-over into the sidewall to eliminate the gnarly chipping. The ski is built with JIB Rocker, totally flat with tip and tail rocker. I was kind of skeptical of it having rebound and railing turns on hard snow until I skied it. Then when I got home, I took my bindings off my Extremes and retired them.

Still built with thick p-tex to abuse and 3.5mm edges for durability. Hopefully you get a chance to try them.
Pretty damned fun.

i got some revivals this year, and the way i would describe them is that they dont pop like a cambered ski, but they spin absurdly fast and easy (due to rocker), butter like fiends and are ridiculously stable on hard pack, have not had them in soft snow. i would recomend

while im at it have you hit cliffs on it? cause as i said in the mountains i ski quite a bit of pow/crud/cliffs. do you know how it handles in that?

i have not hit any pow or cliffs, i use eps for that but they do handle themselves quite nicely in crud. they stay stable and on top of it

been skiing my revivals this past week, and all i gotta say is daaayyyyuuummm. it's my one ski quiver because im in the same situation you're in. i stick in the park but if we get fresh snow i'll be rippin the pow. you won't have any trouble charging whatever you want with the revivals, and don't let the zero camber scare you, it's quite fun and playful, not uncontrollable at high speeds.. as long as you know what you doin which it sounds like you do.

Last year I have skied ar6, now I ahve Revivals. Revivals are stiffer, but due to rocker they're soft when needed. I'm completly in love with them. Never ever more any cambered ski. flatground 360s are easy as hell, same with presses and butters. they're also realy stable - I'm 5'7" and using 169(in real 172) as my park/groomer ski. If I were you I would not even think about ar7.

ok. if i am 5'2 would the 159 be too tall? i know the 161 armadas go to the top of my forehead. also i wont be getting them till the spring for the sales so i might grow a little

They have 2 models, one with the holds and one that is just standard, just like any ski if you get the normal ones you can mout up any set of binders

alright, im sorry but one last question. how does k2 durability/quality compare to armadas durability/quality? cause i know its an austrian factory vs chinese factory haha

k2 skis are literally indestructible.

not actually a fact, but they are very hard to screw up, except the topsheets which are soft, but who gives a shit about a few topsheet scratches

I'm not sure if this was fully answered above, but the jib rocker is way fun for buttering and holds suprisingly well at speed.  I was a little worried originally that they would honestly be scary as hell with a lot of speed on groomed, as a pair of hellbents I demoed were, but they felt the same as a traditional ski.  They tear up crud, are good for light pow days, feel essentially the same as a traditional ski, but are easier to butter on and feel like they ollie/nollie higher.

Ar7's I would imagine are a sick ski as well-definitely demo them if you get a chance.  I've ridden a lot of the past Ar6, Ar5 models and they are way fun.  As you mentioned, they are real light, and Armadas durability is usually pretty good.  In terms of ski production, my two favorite and most trustworthy companies are K2 and Armada, so its not a bad choice either way.
