i had one for my shoulder, its just loud and boring. they do a bunch of different scans, for me they went from 10 seconds to a little over 5 minutes. The 5 minute one sucked cuz u just have to stay super still. another thing, I'm not claustrophobic, and im pretty skinny (6'1" 155), and I had mine on a regular one (i guess they have open ones now for bigger/claustrophobic people) and it is really tiny. but really its just like a long loud xray, u don't feel anything
MRI's aren't that bad, you just have to lie there for a bit. if its only your wrist it wont even be that long, also, dont have any metal on you, then it will be a lot more annoying.
they make you lie on your stomach with your arm fully extended out in front of you for an hour and your shoulder will be in so much pain. when i was finished with mine i couldn't lower my arm, it was just stuck sticking straight up
i am getting one sooon cuz i done fucked my shoulder up and my doc want to know whether i need sugerey or not but i have a "tiny metal flake" in my eye and idk if i can get one yet because they sent it off my orbit xray for a raidiologists opinon. just a tip i did a littl e research. the MRI at St anthony in breck cost 2000 and it cost 500 in denver.
not bad at all. they gave me headphones and i listened to the radio for a few minutes and then fell asleep. it was like a 45 minute scan total. it's not bad at all. i was super relaxed and comfortable. it's not too loud either.
I had one on my wrist in like late July... Its a very easy procedure. The only problem with your wrist is that is such a small joint that they have to inject dye into that it takes a few sticks to get there with a small needle.
Good luck, i am sure it will be no big deal. My doctor was in "training" so he missed the joint over 150 times, we had to stop for 20 min to let the swelling go down before he could try again. But i was assured that its never that bad.
I had it done on my knee's last year, it wasn't bad, they played some music for me over a pair of headphones, but i couldn't move for 45 minutes which kinda sucked...
i was still a kid then but it reminded me of a very large and loud laundry machine because it was round and there was a thing spinning around inside :)
i actually find it quite cool and exciting back then :)
That is the best description of the noise I have ever heard.
They're fine and painless, good tim to think. I have 40 minutes of infomertials going through my headphones though.
I've had 5 on my legs and two on my head they're fine.
