kid jumping off the roof of the 4 story building into the snow, reminds me of stories my dad told me about when he was in college in upstate new york in the late '70's; ppl would jump out the 8th story window into 5 feet of snow after big storms

A couple of those shots were nuts (like that drop into snow holy shit), but it still wasn't as crazy as the oldschool euro parkour videos where its like no technicality and all just gigantic 40 foot drops and gaps where you would straight die if you didn't make it.

an observation of mine:

people from there (russia/eastern europe) have a different view on living/dying. it almost feels like they dont value life that highly.

a mountain guide told me that he always has problems with these people regarding the proper use of safety equipment and regarding the overall awareness of danger.

then, some friends were in argentina to climb cerro torre (maybe in chile, idk). weather was very very bad, so they decided to quit because it was way too dangerous. the next second some guys from the czech rep. or slovenia appear and start to climb the face. visibility almost zero, snowstorms, etc and yeah, no big deal...

last "fact": some weeks ago two polish climbers died close to the summit of the highest mountain in austria. they freezed to death. again, snowstorms and conditions where noone "normal" would even think of going up there. so bad that the mountain rescue couldnt really start a rescue.

conclusion: personal experiences leads me to believe that people from russia and eastern europe treat life a lot different as we do and i guess that vid underlines it. idk if its an observable fact, but maybe it has to do with that conformistic/communistic mindset still in place.

Looked like they've definitely had formal gymnastics training. Their form in the air and air awareness was top notch.

just wrote a huge reply to this on how im polish and we are just raised "harder" then americans but i accidentally deleted it =[ sorry. i dont mean to sound like an asshole, but thats just my opinion that a large percentage of americans are raised to be "more soft"

I absolutely agree with this, but it's not a general truth. I find it to be a regional issue in the States, and, even more so, family dependent. Along with this, it's dependent on the person's interests. I know some absolutely crazy motherfuckers (esp. in the climbing community) who seem to not value their lives whatsoever, and then I know some real pansies.

kinda what i meant, at least somehow.

but i think when you look at that vid, you have to realize that they are also pretty good gymnasts, great body control etc...

so in addition, this vid is still sick as hell, but its "just" legit athletes with basketball sized balls.

instead of regular guys with moon-sized balls.
