I have a GoPro HD and I love it. Definitely worth the money. I honestly don't know much about the Contours though.

there is no gopro that's just 720. you either get the HD Hero, which has 1080p30p, 960p30p, 720p60p, 720p30p, and standard def, or you get the HD Hero 960, which just has 960p30p, 720p30p, and standard def.

battery life should be the same on both as far as i know.

quality on the normal HD Hero is obviously better because it has the 1080p instead of just 960p. It also has 720p60p which is nice because 60fps is important to a lot of people, especially if you'll be filming others and think you might be doing slow motion. Plus, 960p is really only handy for POV footage. It's perfect for POV because it's 'tall,' but I'm not a fan because it's not widescreen.

If you can afford the normal HD Hero, there's no reason you shouldn't get it. The 960p has no advantages over the 1080p other than the fact that it's cheaper.

ya i want a widescreeen and good to film other people with , not really any pov.. so i should get the go pro hd hero 1080p 60fps ?? i dont care about about the price i just want the best one for filming others with and for slow motion, i will be editing in adobe premier and imovie.

i just want a go pro so that someone else can film me with it and so i can clearly analyze my tricks and make sick edits !

yes, get the regular GoPro HD, not the 960. keep in mind though, there is no 1080p60p, just 1080p30p, 720p60p (probably what you meant), 720p30p, and standard def

Go pro. They seem really well built and you can out them through alot but I can't speak for the contour

im thinking of buying a gopro. i need a camera to film skiing/snowboarding/everyday shit and i also think im gonna use it to film my buddies and i playing hockey, imagine how sick that would be!

720p60p if you want to do slow motion. 1080p30p for normal filming because it's very high quality. 960p30p is good for POV

go pros timelapse setting is something i just discovered
its mad easy to make fun timelapses and im not sure if contour even has still photos let alone set capture speeds

the quality would look even better if i wasnt lazy uploading it

that and this video is on a shitty 2gig sd card that i dont think has a class and is probably only meant for photos, i have three of those and i can fill them up in a full day of ski filming easy and changing them out is a bitch.

as my only christmas present i asked for a 16gb class 6 so i hope to get one of those so i can take mad long timelapses/be able to do full days in 1080p.

so i would go no less than 8, 16 is probably prime but i cant say because i havent used it yet and 32 would be the most worry free space wise because thats the biggest sdhc card made

so to make it the best quality as possible which Memory stick or card or whatever it uses should i get
and you can make the quality better by uploading a special way right?

that side by side video is bullshit. u can adjust the exposure settings on the contour, u just have to bump it up one or two when you get it. they just pulled them both out of the box like noobs. if they just did that (which anyone buying them can do obvi) then it would a better test of quality. the go pro just comes with a higher exposure setting out of the box

so that's just a normal gopro hd hero..

get the card they sell on their website, i recommend the 16 GB or the 32 if you can afford it

when you put it on your comp, just drag and drop clips, when you edit, make sure you're project (timeline) settings match your clip settings (ex: if you filmed in 720p60p, your timeline should be 720p60p). when you export, make sure you export in HD (if you filmed at 720p60p, you should export at 720p24p)
