I am looking for some good headphones that are not a gay fashion statement with mediocre quality (Skullcandy WESC Etc). What headphones do NS reccomend?

grado ftw. i love mine. i have the prestige SR-60i and they're unreal. i think they were about $80 but the more expensive you go the better they get. for your price range check out the sr-80

yea but most of em are plastic and break easily. i like the wesc's. the wesc oboes are like metal and leathery stuff and they have a decent bass on them

For $300 get Beyerdynamic DT770 with a decent amp. That will get you the best sound quality for under $300. I researched headphones obsessively last year to find the optimal possible sound rig in your price bracket, and that's the setup I ended up with. If you're ever using an ipod the amp help more than any headphones would. Run the sound out of the 32 connection plug on the bottom and control the volume using the amp, it's the crappy headphone jack they put on all ipods that most impedes the sound quality.

Grado would also be just as good if not better for the same price, but i like the comfort and mind shattering bass of the beyerdynamics.

^^i own these babies, they're under 100$ and sound nice !!

+they're half opened so you still hear surrounding sounds which is nice in social circumstances...


If you're a real audiophile i can recommend the Beyer dynamics DT770, my dad owns these puppies and they are AMAZING !

Both headphones are studio quality, but the Beyer dynamics are Professional and often seen i radio/recording-studios or TV studios where ultimate performance is required...

They are Absolutely incomparable to Skullcandies, trust me ...

The DT770 can be found for under 200 $ and perform extraordinary well for that price....

the AKG 121 S performs almost as well but is half open while the DT770 is completely closed and rules out any surrounding sounds....

im kinda looking for some too....I work at a radio station as a on air dj, and all the headphones at the station suck ass....i have my ski ones, but i feel like a tool wearing these flamboyant headphones at work with a bunch of old dudes....soooo something under 100 with good sound value is what im looking for. they dont have to be too hardcore, im not like producing music or anything,

If your like me and constantly wear headphones, and also have them break all the time go with the koss portapro best sound for the price, which is an insane 30 bucks for the sound quality check em out

The DT 770 with a small amp will be awesome then ! theres a DT770 Pro with 80 ohm that would also work on your mp3 without amp but from experience i can tell it has a bit lower sound quality than the 250 ohms ...

so its to you to choose, if you'll be listening CDs or LPs or anything coming through an amp go for the 250 ohm, otherwise maybe consider the 80ohm variant...

Also, disregard the people spewing out brandnames in here, Yes, sennheiser and bose make awesome headphones, but this doesn't mean that everything with Sennheiser/bose written on it is quality....

same goes for virtually any brand...

im not a super-pro LP listening dj guy, but as far as i can tell these have great sound and are under $100 http://www.aerial7.com/product/CHOPPER2/HYPE/

also, they are comfy as fuck. they literally feel like they were crafted just for my head.
