Harry Potter Part 2 Question [Spoiler]

Okay, this question may ruin the twist for those who havnt read the book and are just watching the movies so just warned.


So the elder wand right.
It was owned by Dumbledore
Malfoy Disarmed Dumbledore? Took ownership of the wand.
Harry Overpowers Malfoy? Takes ownership of the wand?


Then, HOW did Voldemort get the elder wand when he opened Dumbledores Coffin (At least in the movie, it showed the elder wand ya?)

I think that it has to do with being able to use its full ability or something, not just physically having it.

What I've never understood is why we never saw this wand ownership thing take effect before the 7th book. Shouldn't people have lost ownership of their wand everytime someone expelliarmussed them? It always kinda seemed like JK Rowling was grasping at straws for this one.

Well i think through the time of the books Dumbledore had the wand the whole time. And until the 6 nobody really fought him

It has nothing to do with disarming the wand. It has to do with who "destroyed" the previous owner. Sense Malfoy couldn't "destroy" Dumbledore, Snape had to step in and finish the job, making him the owner of the Edler Wand. You're supposed to think Malfoy is the owner in the first half of the book but then in the second you find out that it was Snape.

What are you talking about, if that were the case then voldmort would have been the true owner of the elder wand and he would not have died when he attacked harry at the end. Malfoy was the true owner, then Harry.

When Malfoy is sent to kill, Dumbledore, he disarms him, gaining the right to use the elder wand. When Harry disarms him later in the book, he gains full control of the Elder Wand. When Voldemort takes the Elder Wand from Dumbledores grave, he doesn't have full power of it. He thinks that Snape both killed and disarmed Dumbledore, when he killed him, so Voldemort kills Snape for full control. Harry then tells him at the end of the book, that he has full control of the Elder Wand, and kills Voldemort.

whoever kills the person with the elder want gets it. it will not work for voldemort because snape killed dumbledore. in the book voldemort has to kill snape so that he can get the wand because the wand is rightfully snapes so if he kills snape them he will be the owner of the wand.

No it must by whoever disarms the other person. Because if Voldemort kills Snape for it, according to the power by death, he would be the controller of the elder wand, which he's not. Harry tells him this before he kills em.

To truly use the wands power you must take it against its last masters will (the wand chooses the wizard). But whats then f-ed up is that dumledore was able to take it from grindewald (as it is the most powerfull wand) but i think this i because dumbledore was the first person fitet to posses the elder wand ('cause he did'nt kill with it or boast of it)

What are u talking about bro, did you even read the book? Voldemort thought that because Snape killed Dumbeldore that Snape was the true owner of the wand. So that is why Voldemort actually kills Snape, because he is following the same theory you are. However we know that Malfoy was the one who actually disarmed Dumbeldore thus winning the right to be the owner of the wand, as at that point Dumbeldore was defeated. In the Malfoy manner, Harry steals Malfoys wand, again disarming him, transferring the ownership from Malfoy to Harry. So essential Snape was a dead end, and he did not need to die.

At the end of the novel, in the final fight, Harry and Voldemort cast one spell, killing curse and experlimus, Voldemort's killing curse however backfires because the Elder Wand cannot kill its true owner, so Voldemort is killed. Harry then chooses to never use the Elder Wand and to our knowledge dies of natural causes and thus making the Elder Wand useless.

This kids right. I got the theory messed up, its been a while sense I read the book. That was the twist at the end that Malfoy was the true owner. What a great series this was.

dumbledore took it from grindelwald because he is an OG. No more to it.

another thing about the second movie, the chapter "snapes memory" should take at least 20 monutes. Just saying.

First off: The elder wand has special rules that only apply for this special wand. The whole "ownership" thing does not matter with other wands, all though all wizards have a wand that is "theirs" and that works best for them, which is why it sucks when Harry breaks his.

Dumbledoors plan was as follows: Snape would kill him, but since it was all a part of Dumbledoors plan, he technically would never have been defeated by anyone, and he would die as the true master of the elder wand. If this was to happen (the master dieing undefeated), the wand would then lose it's powers.

But before all this could happen, Dumbledoor was disarmed by Malfoy, making him the true owner of the wand. When Voldemort then took the wand from Dumbledoors grave he had it, but it's true powers could only be utilized by Malfoy. Harry then defeated Malfoy in some way (can't remember exactly what this was all about, but it was something that happened at the Malfoy mansion I believe), making Harry the true owner, all though he never gets hold of the wand. When Voldemort then tries to kill Harry a second time (or the third to be 100% correct), the wand refuses and backfires.

i agree with this

snape can't be the true owner because voldemort would have become the owner of the wand when he killed snape which he didn't.

If I remember correctly the actual plan was for snape to kill dumbeldore but through the process become the owner of the elder wand. I think dumbeldore tells harry this when harry dies the first time.

jk indeed. The plan was as I said for Snape to kill Dumbledoor, but since this would be part of Dumblys plan, it wouldn't technically be a defeat, and Dumbledoor would die undefeated. The wand would then loose it's powers.

You can hold the wand and even use it without it being yours, it just means that it's not working to its full ability and can't be fully controlled by voldemort.

Think about this:
Since Harry owned all three of the Deathly Hallows at the end of the 7th book (the resurrection stone from the ring, the invisibility cloak, and the Elder wand), he was master of death and therefor cannot die.
