Again, who knows what he even means by that. In the past, their "retaliation" has included tighter trade sanctions and a bunch of other tough talk in the UN. Don't you remember when THIS happened just a few months ago:

Right now, it sounds like they'll probably just attack some North Korean military installations AT MOST. Obviously this is a much larger provocation than the North normally engages in, and obviously it's the latest in an escalating pattern of hostility, but these two countries have been poking at each other like this for so long that it's possible to assume that things will be back to normal within 48 hours.

So that's basically my estimated window, if Seoul doesn't mount a military response within the next 36-48 hours, I'd say they'll probably do nothing at all. Hell, the fact that they haven't stormed over the border by now just goes to show that the response to this probably won't be a fully reopened hot war. It's not like they need a lot of time to get their shit in order, they've got all their battle plans in place and ready to go, if they were going to march for Pyongyang it probably would have happened by now.

Of course, if the North breaks with tradition and attacks AGAIN while the South is still deciding what to do about the first shelling, then I'd say all bets are off and you can expect a hot war pretty much immediately.

Are you fucking dull or something?  1. The countries with nuclear weapons are U.S.A, Russia, England, France, and China.  2.  North Korea has vowed to "wipe the U.S. AND South Korea off the map".

If you don't see why it's a bad idea to allow countries like North Korea and Iran to build nukes when they openly vow to wipe countries off the map like Israel and South Korea and the United States off the map, then you are literally fucking retarded.

And their order of importance goes

china>usa>north korea.

China depends on the US, who also depend on China. North korea depends solely on china, but china does not depend on north korea at all.

North Korea gets all it's weapons and most supplies from china, mostly because no one else will sell to them, except china is still in the "get big fast, no matter what we do, or who we have to deal with" stage.

And in recent years, when it comes to north korea's weapons and their various tests, china has actually been strongly against them. So they are technically still allies, but its more or less an outdated alliance coming from the days when china wasn't quite the superpower it is now.

Unknown. To my knowledge, any large-scale South K retaliation, including an isolated attack on a Northern military installation, would be a first since the armistice in the 50's. So if the North decided to follow up with more shelling AFTER that rather than backing down, I really don't know what would happen. All of my predictions right now are based on the precedent that has been set by previous events like this, but if anything that happens over the next day or two ventures into uncharted diplomatic territory, I'd say it would constitute an All-Bets-Are-Off type situation. At that point they'd either have to talk it out or start blowing each other up wholesale.

As far as US involvement, we'd probably be deeply involved with this one. We essentially fought the war for the South back in the 50's and we've still got a lot of troops there. I think a lot of intelligence analysts probably expect that the South would be able to handle the North without too much extra help, but our guys who are already stationed on the border would be fighting right along with them in the meantime. The general consensus seems to be that any potential war over there at this point wouldn't last more than a week or two because of the North's severe lack of resources at the most basic level, which I won't go into right now. If the fight were to continue beyond a week or two, then you'd probably see countries stepping up and sending help on behalf of the North.

The big fear would be it turning into another proxy war between China and whoever else (possibly the Russians). But this is unlikely to happen. China relies heavily on their trade alliances with so many countries who have excommunicated Kim Jong Il, so they'd be unlikely to risk these valuable alliances in order to step in behalf of a North Korean dictator who has caused them nothing but problems ever since they became allies.

China and North Korea's alliance is outdated, and comes from a time when they could have been considered to be relatively equal in terms of world power.

These days china has jumped up a few steps on the world power scale, whereas north korea has not. They are more feared, but because their leader is absolutely insane. Not due to population, military, economic, and industrial growth. They basically are trying to cheat their way into being a world power.

I really do not think the chinese would get involved.

if china attacked us they would be 13 trillion dollars poorer, countries that lay in smoking ruin usually have a hard time paying back laons. they would also lose possibly their largest business partner. along with all the other countries who would stop dealing with them. a move like that would bring their exports down to almost nothing and would destroy their economy. not to mention that it would plunge them into an endlessly expensive and bloody war.

Alright, so what happening and needs to happen:

North Korea is china's crazy cousin and this is China using NK to see what Obama will do about this event. They're flexing their muscles but also seeing what muscles are gonna be flexed back. Japan is also being fucked with. There are tow things we are gonna do. We are going to be pussies and talk about it; thus china see' s that we can be pushed around or! we give start up nuke info to Japan to basically tell China to fuck off and that we still can and will run shit out of whoever fucks with us.

In other news Ireland is not a sovereign nation, the European Union has bailed them out.

Upcoming news; Portugal I predict will go bankrupt next, then spain; causing total fucking mayhem. Germany has been bailing out many countries but its not gonna stay like this forever.

Just talked to my south korean room mate. He said its really not a big deal and that he's not worried, it happens all the time.

Highly doubt anything will come of this. Happened before it will happen again. Pretty sure the US knows better then to get into unnecessary war right now it would be so unpopular i don't think politicians could get away with it.
