Pow not park

Call me what you want but if i had to choose between pow and park it would be powder. 100% of the time.

Don't get me wrong i like park and i do ski it every day i can but it has to be pow out of choice!

Kind of stupid thread but I agree. I'd choose some deep pow lines and trees over a sunny park day any day.

I don't think I could choose to ski one or the other permanetely. Sure skiing pow is fun, but skiing park and progressing yourself is also a big part of skiing for me, and I think after a season or two skiing just pow I would get bored IMO.

If you live on the EC which I am sure you do, Thats understandable. Theres not really a lot of "pow" skiing in the EC. If you do happen to manage to travel out west and you do happen to ski on a pow day, It will change your whole perspective on skiing. Literally.

I don't all this "there is NO pow on the east coast" stuff. I live in RI and ski NH, and out of probally the 15 days that i skied at Wildcat last year, 5 of them where pow days with over 10in. Two of the days there was between 2-4 feet of fresh in some places. There is def. pow on the east coast. you just need to find those nice stashes in the woods to ski it.

yeah there's snow up north. but down here in NJ we don't get powder snow, we get sleet and wet heavy snow. When I go out west I certainly ski powder and trees and whatnot. But here at home I'll stick to the park. Powder was really fun,  like to do tree jibs and stuff like that.

I'd take Big Mountain. Unlimited fall line. Perfect landings. Technical line. Excellent conditions.
Don't get me wrong, I love pow pow. I love charging the steeps more though.

It's a highly debatable opinion.

I think your understanding of pow is a little different than westerners. not trying to burst your bubble but east coast snow is much heavier than out west and the pow skiing is completely different. I'm not saying there is never good pow on the east coast. But you better be getting up very early to get it when it's still light and true pow. Once again, I do agree with you that there is pow on the east coast, but the terrain and type of snow that usually falls is much different than out west.

man that sucks..!!!!!     pow all day.  cliff drops and natty terrain.  dont get me wrong i love lapping park.. i dont throw down huge in park at all.  just jumping and spinning and sliding a rail.   but powder hanjob from the snow.. the best.!

i like them both equally actually. cant decide, some turns in knee deep pow is the best thing ever, but seshing the park with your bros is also fuckin fun. cant pick they are both just so damn fun.

I am going to go ahead and assume that everyone who takes park over pow has never been skiing on a real pow day, don't know how to ski pow, or don't have the leg strength to do it. But I do agree it is better to have a variety than to stick to just one.

Yeah, especially the terrain part. No comparison. And I also agree with Theron in that if you have always been on the East Coast, and you go out west and get to experience a pow day, it would probably change your opinion a lot. I spent a week in Utah last february. I expected to ski a reasonably balanced combination of park and pow, but I think I only happened to ride through a park like 3 times while I was there. Its a whole different ball game.

As for the original question, pow.

If you skied bottomless pow every day chances are youd be itching to hit an immacuately groomed park eventually.  We just always hit park so we want what we can't always have. Powder just isn't always there so we kind of put it up on a pedastle and assume its the best ever.  BUT right now id rather ski pow of course hahah

I don't really understand why people don't like to ski pow. The kids I usually see that don't like to ski are your typical jib and park rats decked out in 7xl dresses. They bitch and whine about how they can't ski pow. You can get better at it if you ski more of it. Same goes for park skiing. Theres more to skiing then just jump lines and rail set ups.
