Emerging at a time when the Hip-Hop world strays towards commercialism and duplicates, Jaeon brings back the voice of a straight up talented emcee. Eliminating the need to inhibit his artistic talent in the face of creating an image and personality for the media, the truth in his words comes simply and forthright. He tells his stories of living in the real world with the rest of us. His dreams and aspirations of coming from simple life and achieving success are just like ours, yet his dynamic skills and presence on the mic seem to set him apart from many others. His flow is clever, intelligent, powerful, funny, and deep, all at the same time. He has a cool sound and a unique style, and his talent is undeniable.
Ever since Jaeon was young he always had an intense interest in music. He started rhyming when he was about 13, and what started out as a hobby and a way to pass time with friends began to develop into a passion that has since been the inspiration of his life. Every since he started rapping, Jaeon has become increasingly better and more proficient at rocking the mic. Finally, in 2002 he released his debut album, Sleepwalker, which as one reviewer put it,'is testament to the writing and performing talents of an emerging artist'.
Jaeon is not a thug, and he is not a gangsta. He is a Hip-Hop virtuoso on a different vibe who comes through as a cool kid with a tight flow and a love for music. This is what shapes who he is and where he is going. As he has said himself, 'I'm a hungry emcee and each day I keep on working at perfecting my craft, and as I grow and mature, so does my music. I'm not trying to be something I'm not. I'm just doing my thing, trying to get to the next level.' This mindset is something that we all can relate to and understand.
Several years ago Jaeon got down with three emcees that he had known since back in the day to form a group called the Black Lung Brothers. The members of the group were Jaeon, Dor, Manny Thornton, and Tommy Mula and in 2003 they released a bangin' album called Few and Far Between. Few and Far Between is a solid Hip Hop album with bouncin' beat, crisply delivered and intricate lyrics and hooks that you catch on to right away. However, although they are all still fam and continue to work together in different capacities, they are all currently working on other projects and moving in different directions.
Currently Jaeon and Tommy have teamed up with drummer A.J. Jump, bassist Dylan Skursky, and guitarist Justin Veery to create a next level hip-hop experience. With hundreds of actual shows (not just open mics or spitting a freestyle at your boy's party) under their belts combined, they put on an unbelievable performance filled with dope music and amazing energy. They will be bringing their show to stages all over the Northeast and beyond over the course of the next few months so be sure to catch them in Northeast PA, Philly, NYC, etc. sometime in the near future. They are also taking this new sound into the studio and are currently recording songs for a new album that has the potential to be a groundbreaking piece of music. At the same Jaeon is also working on his sophomore solo album, The Underdog, and this is shaping up to be incredible album as it documents his progression and development as an emcee and an artist.
