obsess over the tiniest things that they think guys pay attention to or care about? Like how their eyelashes look and stupid nit picky things like that. Anyone have any ideas?

think about that the next time you oggle a picture of a hot girl and just think about that hot girl might make your girlfriend or friends feel self conscious, or like they have to compete. it's not just a guy thing, but it's a girl thing too. women can be highly competitive, and some one, somewhere at sometime, decided that beauty was the only thing to get you married, or laid, or even desirable. men and women in the fashion industry, and porn, or ad campaigns are all are equally responsible for pressuring chicks into feeling like they need to upkeep themselves or they'll get dumped. insecurity and vanity is an astounding thing.

on that note however... nothing wrong with feeling good about the way you look, as long as you don't take it too far. coughheidimontagcough. you could say that's it's like why do guys care about their jibberish or saga or boat shoes? your hair cuts? hats? the color of your socks?

As sort of mentioned by someone above, it's a competition thing between girls. They notice each other and they want to outdo the other girls. Reasoning is still the same. Look better than other girls= be top girl= better chance of reproduction/being selected by best mate.

I would HOPE you would notice if your lady took off the bush for you and again, you HOPEFULLY would show great appreciation for that, especially if it involved hot wax and a small Asian woman ripping out the hair follicles saying "pain for beauty!", I mean, that would be something hard to miss.... Then again, maybe you wear glasses and take them off when dining downtown and thought hmmm, something's different here..... oh well!

honestly, i dont care much for jiberish. not at that price anyway. but people wear unique things on the hill to get noticed, but to me a lot of lipstick and mascara is the same. its all some shade of pink or purple.
as for hair cuts: i dont really mind, i just cut it short so i dont have to deal with combing it and such.
boat shoes: i personally think boat shoes are stupid but it could be like flip flops, comfy as fuck.
color of socks: i just buy them all the same colour (white) so that i can just put on any 2 random socks i find without looking silly in public. (difference between caring about what socks i wear and caring about if i look like a retard). also it greatly speeds up laundry time, dont have to sort through socks. just throw the first 2 you find together, and bam. you got a matching pair.

And not all women obsess over their mascara. Or even bother wearing it most of the time.

But plenty of guys do obsess over their image. They refuse to wear certain brands of clothes, fix their hair constantly etc.

Maybe there are more girls than guys like that, but at the same time they are generally held to higher standards. The girl with frizzy hair in sweats will get either destroyed or completely ignored. Some of them can deal with that, some can't/don't feel the need to.

well, i personally find the women who dont wear that much makeup more attractive.

and as for the guys who obsess over their image... i tend to not get along well with them. i dislike most of them. in my experience, they brag too much and try too hard to draw attention too themselves. they talk too much shit, but then pussy out.

and as for frizzy hair and sweats... i have seen some damn attractive sweats, but as i said before there is a difference between obsessing over image and not looking like a retard.

Some of those shots are taken years apart and others look photoshopped or touched up (both ugly and good ones).

"Let's take an airbrushed photo from a magazine and then the ugliest photo from the star's worst part of their life when they're struggling with drug addiction and put them next to each other so we can show how much hotter people look with makeup"

That shit disgusts me. Some of the photos of the celebs with make up are just as gross as some of the photos when the celebs have no makeup. Yes, makeup can make a girl look better, but too much is gross and trashy. I prefer girls who wear minimal or no makeup. I think it shows a lot about them.

With most women, it is. If you don't acknowledge their presence, they are going to be upset. It's once you grow up, for both parties, you start to figure out the right way vs. the wrong way to treat a woman. Both men and women can be dramatic, trust me.
But once you get into you're mid 20's and start realizing that girls have been being dramatic because you don't know how to double task and then actually find someone who loves you/men want to settle down, then there won't be any drama.

i think chicks are just more vocal or dramatic about it. i see my boyfriend sometimes check himself out in the mirror before we go out, but that's fine. it means he has a standard of living and doesn't dress like a fucking bum.

as for the examples i listed below gnarwhal, they're just random examples i've seen on this website.
